This past Monday at Bagram Airfield was a moment I’ll never forget, Maj. Gen. JT Thomson placed the brigadier general rank on my uniform during a promotion ceremony. Standing there, wearing that new rank, stepping into the role of deputy commander for support with the 1st Cavalry Division, it was humbling, surreal, and an incredible honor all at once. Standing on Cavalry Parade Field that day, looking out at the Soldiers, families, and leaders who make Fort Riley what it is, I felt an overwhelming mix of gratitude, pride, and humility. The change of command on Apr 11, 2024, wasn’t just a ceremony, it was a moment to reflect on what it meant to serve alongside the incredible men and women of the 1st Infantry Division. It was an honor to pass the torch to Maj. Gen. John Meyer III, someone I deeply respect and trust to lead this historic division forward. Saying farewell was not easy, this team, this place, and this mission have meant so much to me and my family. Thank you, Big Red One, for allowing me the privilege to serve with you. You'll always have a place in my heart.

Soldiers participated in this year's Victory Run, and "in short, it's going to be an amazing week. For morning, Soldiers assessed their personal character strengths and discussed how understanding their own strengths, along with understanding the character of their teammates, supports a cohesive team built on mutual trust and understanding.
1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley Commanding General, MG Sims also dropped in for a visit and emphasized how understanding character traits develops the social, emotional, spiritual, and family domains of strength. Sustain to Victory! Duty First, People Always, All Else Follows!
