We truly appreciate everyone who took part of the 22 push-up challenge! My good friend, Sarah Heckman, an Air Force Veteran & now resident of eastern Texas, was an incredible advocate this past month!

Thank you to ALL who knocked out some push-ups to recognize our Veterans. Although our challenge is over, we encourage you to keep advocating for our Veterans - there are MANY ways to do so, including a simple smile!

I had the opportunity of a lifetime today in Houston, TX ... NOT pushups, but still advocating for ways to eradicate the ~22 Veteran su***des/day.

I wear another “hat” as a pastor & teamed up with the Texas ministry where I’m ordained to release some resources to help bring deep healing through faith-based practices. Today, Joan Hunter & I unveiled her latest book - inspired by several Veterans (including myself) - LIVE. I just happened to make an urgent overnight trip to San Antonio ... and this opportunity opened up, so I drove the 3 hours!

The post isn’t to push an agenda or to sell anything, but to show there are a multitude of ways to reach our Veterans! Some welcome a faith-based approach; others don’t - and it’s ok!

The bottom line: Leverage those resources near & dear to you to reach our Veterans! Be you!

Battle Buddy/Wingman/Friend Check ...

According the Department of Veterans Affairs, approximately 22 Veterans commit su***de DAILY - this needs to end immediately! YOU can help ...

Starting tomorrow, April 22, 2020, the FVTC Student Veterans of America is teaming up with the FVTC Fitness Center to launch a 22-day Pushup Challenge!

IMPORTANT: It's important you ALWAYS consult with your physician before starting any strenuous activities.

Here's how YOU can join us ...use
1. Each day, complete 22 pushups & log your progress
2. You CAN challenge a family member, friend, coworker, or a team to 22 pushups! It's strictly voluntary of course.
3. Feel free to post a few photos/videos along the way! Please keep them CLEAN (well, a little mud is fine).
4. At the end of the 22 days, send your total pushups to [email protected], no later than May 15th, please.
5. As you're doing the pushups, keep Veterans - past & present - in your thoughts & prayers. If you know a Veteran and/or see a Veteran out and about, give them a shout out!

After tallying the totals, we will recognize the top 3 leaders as well as the FVTC organization with the greatest combined number of pushups.

Finally, IF YOU ARE A VETERAN and are experiencing a crisis, PLEASE CALL 1-800-273-8255 option 1. You can also TEXT 838255.

Thank you for joining the FVTC Student Veterans of America 22 pushup challenge! Share, share, share!

We had a great meeting today and enjoyed two special guests! Patti Lynn, FVTC Wellness Coordination & Bruce Rathe, FVTC Education Support Services. Rodney Schreiber, SVA VP, presented t-shirts on behalf of the SVA.

Patti was sharing how we can create some synergy between the awesome fitness center & FVTC Veterans

Bruce founded the Veterans for Veterans club in 2010, a precursor to the current SVA!
