Snapshot Day:

Join Langlade County Conservation Specialist and FLOW AIS in this statewide search for invasive species. Snapshot Day is an event where YOU get to contribute to invaluable research and help protect Wisconsin’s waters. Snapshot Day not only helps monitor aquatic invasive species but also strengthens our connection to the natural world. We will meet at the PLIA building August 9th at 8:30 am

Pest and Disease Management Workshop:

We hope your garden is growing without any issues and you’re getting a fantastic harvest. BUT if not, or you have any questions or concerns, come learn from horticulture expert, Scott Reuss, about pests and diseases that often plague your garden. Bring some samples from your own garden and explore the community garden to learn what you can do now and in the future. We ask that you bring a lawn chair as we hope to be outside if the weather cooperates!

Have you noticed more and more birds returning to your yard? This is such a great sign that spring is finally here! Perfect timing for World Migratory Bird Day, which is officially celebrated the second Saturday in May. World Migratory Bird Day was created to celebrate these incredible birds and help protect them. The theme of 2025 focuses on the challenges migratory birds face and efforts anyone can make to create a more bird-friendly area. Simple actions you can take include:
• Planting natives that provide food and shelter for birds.
• Avoiding chemicals, such as pesticides, which can harm birds as well as the insects they feed on.
• Shutting off nighttime lights when possible, or switching to warm color bulbs to help prevent confusion for migratory birds.

Celebrate migratory birds this season by taking small, yet meaningful actions that make a difference. Let us know what you do or plan to do to help birds in the comments.
