The hills have eyes, but money has a mouth!

You can weave a story, but money is black and white (and green)!

An0Ka has spent $1,500,000 in interest over the last three years holding the property formerly known as the Miller building.

The city pocketbook needs to SHUT! Our tax dollars are being used to satisfy personal wants and dream of our c¡ty.

$19,600,000. That is the ABSOLUTE CHEAPEST option to turn the former Miller building (corner of 4th Avenue & Grant Street) into a community center.

These costs are WITHOUT outdoor recreation space and parking.

Are alarm bells ringing in your ears yet, folks?! The pocketbook is wide open with this group and we need to get fiscal responsibility back in order.

Funny enough, fiscal responsibility was a campaign pillar for a few.

NOTE: Even AFTER this was discussed, two or three council members STILL wanted to pour MORE money into this study.

Like the great Ozzy said, “going off the rails on a crazy train” 🦇

Anoka has a budget meeting this evening, at Greenhaven Golf Course. They will dine on plates of appetizers and soft drinks. Meanwhile, Anoka has no money. They are relying on profits from the municipal utilities to pay the bills.

The 2026 budget is proposed to go up THIRTY (3️⃣0️⃣) percent. That’s $2️⃣,7️⃣9️⃣7️⃣,5️⃣0️⃣9️⃣.

Anoka gets appetizers and drinks served while we face a THIRTY percent budget increase?!

Tell me what’s wrong here folks

People of Anoka, the tornado keeps blowing through town!

Monday night a feasibility study was authorized to the tune of ~💲50,000 for converting 2939 6th Avenue, the former Miller Manufacturing, into a community center.

This 💲11,000,000 building was purchased on a 36 month bond. The intent was to purchase, find a developer, and resell the building/land.

Folks, our taxes are going up, parks are struggling, our roads need serious repairs. The cost of this building is 💲11,000,000. That is WITHOUT any repairs or conversions to a community center. It is estimated that roughly 💲20,000,000 will be spent in total.

I beg of you, stop the madness and reinvest in the community in ways that LOWER our taxes.

Folks, we’ve got a tornado warning!

A few years back the city of Anoka bonded (borrowed) $11 million to purchase a large manufacturing building (2939 6th Avenue).

This money was borrowed with the intention of either A. Tearing the building down or B. Selling the building to a willing redeveloper (there are currently several as of April 2025).

There are attempts to change course. It’s been asked for a study to be done to see if the rental income from basketball courts, tennis courts, etc (which would need to be built) would be enough to sustain the cost to run the building.

MISSING A BIG FACTOR HERE FOLKS. WHAT ABOUT THAT $11 MILLION?? This is dishonesty and the building needs to be sold to the highest bidding developer.

Here’s a great conversation starter! If the city of Anoka came into an extra $53,000, what are some things you would like to see the city purchase?

I’ll go first, I’d love to see more EV chargers!

This is an F5 issue here folks. Our city manager is now playing operator? We often hear from city staff that they enjoy talking with council members about issues in the community. It’s a great way to build a rapport. Now that is to be cut off?

There’s another entire section about disciplinary actions if a council member reaches out to city staff. This is HUGE.

How is this transparent and open?!

Should Anoka City Council be allowed to write their own code of ethics?
