Fort Indiantown Gap is more than a premier military training center—it is also a steward of some of Pennsylvania’s most valuable natural resources.

I was proud to see the Kittatinny Ridge Partners come together today to discuss how we can continue balancing military readiness and conservation.

The partnership between government agencies, conservation organizations, local communities, and the military demonstrates what can be accomplished when we work toward a common goal.

📍 Marking history where it all began!

the significance of Army's official historic birthplace marker in Philadelphia?

Located near the intersection of Chestnut and South 6th Streets, this (new) marker recognizes Philadelphia’s legacy as the birthplace of the U.S. Army, which was established by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1775.

Here is to 251 years of defending freedom.

Veterans are the heartbeat of our agency, especially those who live in any of our six veterans homes. Equally important are the staff and family who support our residents. That’s why we are celebrating Veterans Homes Week at the Delaware Valley Veterans’ Home, Philadelphia; the Gino J. Merli Veterans’ Center, Scranton; the Pennsylvania Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home, Erie; the Southeastern Veterans’ Center, Spring City; the Southwestern Veterans’ Center, Pittsburgh; and the Hollidaysburg Veterans’ Home, Duncansville. Check the homes’ pages throughout this week to see the fun our residents, staff and family members are having with carnival games, live musicals, comedy performances, picnics, parades, military ceremonies, petting zoos, bingo matches, a car show and more.

What an outstanding day at Pocono Raceway for the PA Getaway 400.
I am especially grateful to NASCAR and Pocono Raceway for taking the time to honor our Gold Star Families. Their loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation, and we must never forget them.

I’m incredibly proud of our Soldiers and Airmen who represented the Pennsylvania National Guard with professionalism and pride throughout the day, including our newest members sworn into service this morning.

I also want to thank Office of the Governor of Pennsylvania for his continued support of our service members, veterans, and their families. Whether at Pocono Raceway or in communities across Pennsylvania, caring for those who serve remains at the heart of our mission.

Maj. Gen. Michael Wegscheider, deputy adjutant general - Army, Pennsylvania National Guard, and Command Sgt. Maj. Shawn Phillips, command senior enlisted leader, Pennsylvania National Guard, along with Gen. Steven Nordhaus, Chief of the National Guard Bureau, and Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chief of the National Guard Bureau John Raines, visited Lithuania recently as part of a trip to the Baltic region. Pennsylvania's partnership with Lithuania through The National Guard's State Partnership Program -- one of the program's original partnerships -- celebrated its 33rd anniversary this year.

“The partnership between the Baltic countries and the National Guard of Maryland, Michigan and Pennsylvania is more than a military relationship, it’s an investment in deterrence,” Nordhaus said.
