ADVISORY FOR HB1455: Testimony is now limited to 1 minute only for tomorrow's hearing in front of the House Appropriations Committee.

DIVEST FROM OPPRESSION, INVEST IN COMMUNITIES!

HB1455 calls for divestment from the $65.5 million that Maryland’s state retirement and pension system currently holds in risky Israeli sovereign bonds. These bonds serve as a blank check to finance Israel’s bombs, bulldozers, and ammunition. They directly fund the death and destruction in Gaza; and apartheid, occupation, and annexation of the West Bank and Golan Heights.

Take action in three parts:

The window for written or oral in-person/online testimony for HJ9 is today! Even if you can only get a few quick sentences in a written testimony, it's so important that our reps know that we condemn violence abroad, so that we can do the same here at home with ICE, CBP, and other entities escalating their actions against our communities.

Connect with people within the community who stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine. We will be doing loads of arts and crafts and enjoying some great Palestinian food. Zaman Grill is a Palestinian owned restaurant in the area, come out to support them and their business!

The Global Sumud flotilla | گلوبل صمود فلوٹیلا is currently being intercepted by Israel. This is an illegal mass kidnapping event by a military force of civilians. The flotilla is a peaceful, international civilian mission to deliver life-saving aid to Gaza and challenge the illegal Israeli blockade.

In the past, Israel has violently intercepted similar flotillas in international waters, in direct violation of international law. These actions have endangered lives and obstructed legitimate humanitarian efforts. This time, the world is watching.

By emailing our government, you are calling on them to uphold their duty to protect their citizens and to demand that Israel ensures the safe passage of the flotilla!

This past weekend, Anne Arundel For Palestine was invited to table at the Kunta Kinte festival. The Kunta Kinte Heritage Festival has been an Annapolis tradition for 35 years to celebrate the perseverance, education, and cultural heritage of Africans, African-Americans, and Caribbean people of African descent. It is a beautiful day of Black joy, attended by African descended people from the near and far.

We encouraged our community and those from out of town to call their representatives and urge them to sponsor the HR3565 Block The Bombs Act. While fighting for the liberation of Palestine, we recognize the interconnectedness of Black and Palestinian liberation and show our solidarity.

Thank you again to for the invitation to celebrate 35 years of this historical festival. We are not free until we are all free. 🇵🇸
