BLACK. ROOTED. WORKING. 🌱✊🏾
Over the last year, Breaking Boundaries Environmental (BBE) hasn’t just been talking about change — we’ve been in the soil doing the work. BBE has been farming, feeding, planting, and building power in Black communities too often ignored and under resourced.
We’ve been serving food deserts throughout the Mid-Atlantic region because access to fresh, healthy food should never depend on your tax bracket. Our people deserve nourishment, ownership, sustainability, and systems built FOR us BY us.
At the same time, BBE has been on the frontlines of environmental restoration through Maryland’s 5 Million Trees Initiative — helping restore our land while creating opportunities for our communities to reconnect with agriculture, nature, and generational wealth.
And just THIS WEEK, BBE planted nearly 200 trees including in partnership with the MD Reentry Program and a family owned farm called Mt Pleasant Acres Farm on th eastern shore (Harriet’s Grove) and Naturez Daughter

🍑 Plum trees
Every tree planted is an investment in cleaner air, healthier communities, food security, and Black environmental leadership.
BBE is also proud to now operate our own tree nursery with OVER 200 trees currently available for purchase. We’re not just growing trees — we’re growing legacy, ownership, and economic opportunity rooted in the community.

This is land stewardship.
This is food justice.
This is Black resilience in motion.
We’re building more than a business.

As a Black-owned environmental business rooted in Maryland, BBE understands that protecting our natural resources is more than conservation work — it is personal. From the Chesapeake and Coastal Bays to our rivers, forests, farmland, and the landscapes stretching from the mountains of Western Maryland to the Atlantic coast, our environment is deeply connected to the health, culture, and future of our communities.

We believe true stewardship comes from lived connection to the land, environmental education, practical climate awareness, and empowering local communities to lead sustainable change for future generations. Maryland’s communities are facing increasing environmental threats caused by pollution, climate change, and decades of inequitable investment. These challenges continue to disproportionately impact Black communities, under-resourced neighborhoods, and our youth.

At BBE, we believe environmental justice and economic opportunity must go hand in hand. Building thriving and resilient communities means preparing Maryland residents for careers in sustainability, conservation, restoration, and the growing green workforce economy. Through equitable workforce development, education, and community-centered environmental action, BBE is committed to creating pathways for the next generation to protect our environment while building long-term economic stability for their families and communities.

We are pleased to invite you to an upcoming meeting to discuss flooding and drainage issues in the most vulnerable communities -- please see below and attached.

Tuesday, May 19th, 2026 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Location: Pip Moyer Recreation Center, 273 Hilltop Lane

This meeting will bring together City staff and community leaders to discuss areas experiencing recurrent flooding, drainage, and mold issues within Annapolis that would benefit from enhanced resiliency and planning efforts.

Participants will share where problems are occurring and how they impact community members, especially more vulnerable communities.

They will also discuss more effective ways to engage local stakeholders to make sure problems are being elevated to–and heard by–relevant entities and are resolved in ways acceptable to local residents. Finally, participants will strategize about ways to build community members’ knowledge about the environment and about how to get involved in local issues and government decisions in communities that have historically not had a voice in these issues.

Light refreshments will be served.

On behalf of the Resilience Action Planning for Maryland’s Coastal Communities Project Team and BBE

Always a good sign when you plant trees and it rains the same day. BBE wrapped up a tree planting today as part of WSA’s Replant Annapolis program. BBE is a recognized business vendor as part of the state of Maryland’s 5 Million Trees Initiative.

To date, BBE has planted thousands of trees and it rained today right after planting 15 trees in a historic part of Parole, and Eastport of Annapolis. Shot out to the community because without them none of this would’ve possible!
