The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County will meet at 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026, for the specific purpose of voting to go into closed session, pursuant to Section 3-305(b)(9) of the General Provisions Article of the Open Meetings Act, to consider matters related to collective bargaining negotiations.

The meeting will be conducted virtually.

The public may listen to the open portion of the meeting, including the vote to go into closed session, by calling 605-468-8781 and entering access code 685333 followed by the pound/hashtag symbol.

The public may not listen to the closed session portion of the meeting.

I will be unable to attend the upcoming meeting due to a long scheduled family trip. Please make sure to read the news release regarding proposed changes to the graduation requirements. And I appreciate the understanding of my constituents as I take this important time with my family.

The second public hearing on the FY2027 budget is scheduled for 6 PM on this coming Thursday, January 8th in the Board room at the AACPS central offices on Riva Road. So thrilled to be partnering with the City of Annapolis, Alderman Brooks Schandelmeier , and the Marine Trade Association to build a job pathway to this thriving industry for our students!

Had a great meeting with Dr Bedel, Joanna Bache Tobin Board of Education District 6 & the Marine Trades Association of Maryland to plan how to connect Anne Arundel students into Annapolis’ Maritime apprenticeship program.

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County will receive new additional information regarding Phase 2 of the comprehensive redistricting process and consider revisions to the current school year calendar at its next regular business meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

At the meeting, the Board will also receive an update on the minimum school funding requirements contained in the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future and the work Anne Arundel County Public Schools is doing to meet those requirements.
