Larissa Thornburg For School Board Pl 7 Larissa is an experienced, dedicated and committed board member. Her desire to support the District Larissa has lived in Anna for 22 years.

She married Jeff 27 years ago and has three wonderful children. Her two boys graduated in 2013 and 2016. Her daughter is a 2020 AHS graduate. She began volunteering at the schools when her oldest started Kindergarten. Then 14 years ago she wanted to be more involved with the District and the Community, so she started attending the monthly board meetings. After a year she felt she could add value a

nd bring new ideas to help the students and teachers, so she ran for a seat. Larissa is an advocate for helping kids achieve growth in their educational path that prepares them for their future. She has presented to the State Board of Education at the capital in Austin during an Advocate Boot Camp. Larissa has a finance background and is on the District Finance Committee. Larissa is very involved with the district. She is always looking for ways to improve the district and can be found at most sporting events and fine art programs. (at all levels, AHS, AMS and elementary age)

Larissa prepares for board meetings by researching and asking questions and has over 200 hours of board training. She is a LTAB Alumni and has board connections all over the State of Texas.

Interesting Facts about AISD and the difference the RIGHT board makes.

The current board brought in a new superintendent and challenged him and the administration to improve our academics and staff retention.

Here are the results...

AP tests were administered to 13.6 % of the 11th and 12th grade students.
In the 18/19 school year it was 19.3%.
Due to Covid, College Board canceled many tests, but Anna was trending at 21.6%.

The state avg is 26%
IMPROVEMENT

Our State Rating for the District was a high C. One year later the District rating is a high B.

3 years ago we surveyed the Staff.. morale was very low.
Over the past 2 years morale is high and we hear how glad they are to work for AISD.
