Dear Community Members,
After two decades of dedicated service, the Calaveras County Office of Education has made the decision to end our administration of the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program, effective June 30, 2024. This decision was not reached lightly but was influenced by significant changes in the legal landscape, prompting us to reassess our engagement in programs that could potentially expose CCOE, its staff, and its volunteers to liabilities.
For the past 20 years, our community has embraced the spirit of mentoring, creating 185 matches that have enriched the lives of both mentors and mentees alike. As we navigate this change, we want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program—our volunteers, donors, and community partners. Your generosity and commitment have been instrumental in the program's success and have left a lasting impact on many lives.
While the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program is concluding, the commitment of CCOE to our community's youth remains unwavering. We are excited to continue offering a variety of programs that provide essential support and opportunities for growth to our students. These include:
· Club Live and Friday Night Leadership: Vibrant programs for 6th-12th graders to engage in community service, develop leadership skills, and make healthy lifestyle choices.
· Friday Night Live Mentoring: A peer mentoring initiative where middle school students connect with high school mentors to build leadership abilities and positively impact their community.
· Calaveras Youth Council and Youth Advisory Board: Youth advocacy groups to bring young adult students together to voice their opinions and actively participate in making community decisions.
· Independent Living Program: Prepares young adults with essential skills and knowledge for successful independence and personal growth.
