In case you were looking for us this morning, our location was beneath one of our water towers, high in the air. We took advantage of the dry weather to use a lift and repair a leak in the tower, and the rain conveniently held off until the patch was complete. However, the rain prevented us from finishing another task, painting the belly of the tower for protection. The project may have to wait until we have access to a lift again. Rainy days typically slow down our work, but we use this time to maintain equipment, clean the shop, and work on indoor projects. During our last rainy day, we worked on a project to fabricate a bar screen and drip pan from available metal, and it turned out very well. The bar screen is used to catch unwanted items in the sewer plant, and the drip pan is used to dry these items before disposal. Our system has two bar screens and two drip pans of different sizes.

Following a comprehensive engineering and planning phase, the water system improvement bond is poised to enter the construction stage. If weather conditions allow, contractors will commence breaking ground as early as the upcoming week. As shown in Photo #1, the improvement areas are demarcated on the map, indicating the sites where work will be carried out over the next few months. According to Photo #2, the initial phase will focus on the Hilltop Area, covering High St. from the water tower down to W. Beaver St., as well as Zion St., where the installation of new water lines is planned. Due to the complexity of underground utilities in the area, there is a risk of temporary service interruption if any damage occurs to these lines. Therefore, water service may be disrupted at times during the project. The contractors will undertake all necessary street and yard repairs following the completion of their work. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this enhancement period and offer apologies for any inconvenience that these operations may cause, working diligently to minimize disruptions with the contractors.

The town hole project is almost complete, requiring little painting and minor finishing touches. Tomorrow, the mini court will be open for use, equipped with a new basketball goal, designed for park league play, not professional NBA standards, and will be designated as a no-parking zone. We extend our sincere appreciation to the individual who donated the basketball goal to Anderson, as well as to STP Striping for helping out on short notices with the striping. Furthermore, we would like to express our thanks to the citizens who kindly provided a dozen donuts this morning, much appreciated!

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the crews working diligently to rectify storm damage. The unpredictable weather patterns exhibited by Mother Nature over the past couple of weeks have necessitated considerable after-hours work for countless crews. This week has seen numerous individuals face prolonged wet days. The recent fall of one of the many trees across our county and state is a notable example, given its substantial size. We thank everyone involved in clearing roads, restoring utilities, and those still engaged in the efforts. Your hard work is greatly valued, and please be safe out there.

Alert !!! Water customers in certain elevated areas of town may experience lower pressure than normal for a 24-hour period. We have isolated both wells for the day to their respective side of town to break down the system and isolate subsurface leaks to a smaller location. Normal pressure will be restored at 9:00 AM tomorrow, 1-29-24. We apologize for any inconvenience.

PREVENT FROZEN WATER!!!

Every year folks experiences frozen/broken pipes from extreme cold weather. Biggest advice we have got for anyone.

#1 Tip

ALLOW A SMALL TRICKLE OF WATER TO RUN OVERNIGHT OR IF YOU LEAVE HOME, TO KEEP PIPES FROM FREEZING. THE COST OF THE WATER IS MINIMAL COMPARED TO REPAIRING THE DAMAGE FROM BURSTING PIPES.

With cold weather approaching we highly recommend doing the above at the bare minimum. If interested in other tips a simple search on Google of Preventing Frozen Pipes will definitely give other tips including the one above.

Be careful & safe this week!
