Join us tomorrow at FIELDDAY, New England’s Conference on Landscape Architecture.

Landscape Interactions Founding Principal Evan Abramson will be presenting alongside NOFA/Mass Soil Technical Services + Education Director Rubén Parrilla and Pocasset Pokanoket Land Trust Food Sovereignty Director Sister Anna Gilbert-Muhammad on Building Soil through Biodiversity: Replicable Models for Resilience. They will be reporting on two years of collaboration to transform sites across Western Massachusetts into biodiversity hotspots that sequester elevated levels of carbon and support local food security. Catch them at the David Rubenstein Treehouse at Harvard University at 11:30 AM.

Just arrived in Detroit! Looking forward to presenting at tomorrow. Come say hi if you’re here!

While biodiversity is a goal for many landscape architects and designers, few projects utilize science to document the impact of designed landscapes on ecosystems or species.

Join us tomorrow at the UMass-Amherst Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning for a presentation by Landscape Interactions Founding Principal Evan Abramson on ways to design and measure biodiversity.

Join us this Thursday at the UMass-Amherst Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning for a presentation by Landscape Interactions Founding Principal Evan Abramson on Designing Biodiversity.

While biodiversity is a goal for many landscape architects and designers, few projects utilize science to document the impacts of designed landscapes on ecosystems or species. Featuring a series of case studies from Landscape Interactions’ own practice, this session will present diverse approaches to understanding how landscape interactions influence the biodiversity of sites and communities.

At last week’s NOFA/Mass Winter Conference, Landscape Interactions Principal Evan Abramson joined Anna Gilbert-Muhammad, Food Access Director , Jason Comcowich, Development and Community Partnership Director , Rubén Parilla, Education Director , and Brooke Bullock and John Collector, Co-Owners for an engaging dialogue around their two-year collaboration to build above and belowground biodiversity on sites across Western Massachusetts. Funded by a Healthy Soils Action Grant from the Healthy Soils Initiative , a series of scalable and replicable designs for maximizing biodiversity will be made available to the public this spring.

A few spots are still available for tomorrow’s free meadow making workshop at Stonebridge Farm, where we’ll be installing a native pasture to feed livestock and at-risk pollinators simultaneously. Learn how to create a meadow from seed and get your hands dirty in the process. RSVP at tinyurl.com/max-bio

Some photos of us and the farmers at Stonebridge installing a riparian buffer at their pond a few weeks ago.

We had a blast seeding a low growing meadow at Red Fire Farm last weekend. This 1/3-acre former crop field is being transformed into a productive agroforestry system with native fruit and nut trees and a perennial grassland understory. Thanks to nearly 20 volunteers we got the whole site seeded in about an hour.

Join Landscape Interactions and NOFA/Mass for another hands-on workshop at Stonebridge Farm in Chesterfield on the 15th (info and registration link in last slide).

This is a project of the Massachusetts Healthy Soils Initiative funded by the Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA).

This weekend we’ll be walking our design sites in Whately, Massachusetts with members of the community to gather feedback on the draft landscape designs for climate resilience that we’ve created for the Whately Public Library, Whately Elementary School and the Town Offices. Building on over one year of ecological analysis, research on pollinator species distribution changes, public engagement and meetings with key stakeholders in the community, these three sites have been selected as model landscapes for initiating a corridor of connected habitats across the town and wider region to improve resilience to flooding, extreme weather, rising temperatures, air pollution and a lack of crop pollination. Funded by a MVP Action Grant, our final designs will be published in Spring of 2026.

Join us on Saturday from 1-4pm to learn more.
