Every citizen in the Alpena Public School District should stop and take notice.
APS Board members Monica Dziesinski, Sarah Costain and Eric Lawson are under recall by a group of citizens deeply concerned for where our schools are heading.
In APS Board Minutes dated 3/10/25, Lawson made his intention perfectly clear. This is a screenshot of those minutes.
Control of all books and curriculum and stripping the Superintendent of that authority are in this Board’s sight.
Follow the Build A Better Board of Ed for Alpena Public Schools FB page for more info on the reasons for this recall. There are Recall Signing events every weekend through 6/27 at the Michekewis Farmers Market and at the CoOp Market behind City hall.

Friends! Your signature is needed for the APS Board of Education recall! Please attend one of these events to sign. Sarah Costain, Monica Dziesinski, and Eric Lawson are wasting our taxpayer dollars and turning down grants that would better our schools. Sarah is also not attending many of the meetings. This recall is supported by many teachers, staff, and parents.

If the last 2 months have shown us anything, it’s that when small groups of individuals get together, big change can happen.
From school board change, to keeping kind eyes on our public county library, to training citizens how to engage in civic organization - the SAFE team is making good change happen in NE MI.
