Jorge Mendoza for Alliance City Council

Jorge Mendoza for Alliance City Council Former Candidate for Alliance City Council At-Large, 2025. "An Alliance for All our Families"

Paid for by Friends of Jorge Mendoza

Hello, my name is Jorge Mendoza. Thank you for taking a moment to look at our campaign page! I'm a husband, father, and community advocate running for Member-At-Large of Alliance City Council to represent my fellow neighbors and draw greater awareness to how local government can impact all of our lives for more positive change. My mission to be one of our city's three At-Large representatives on C

ity Council are based on the following:

- Service - City government and the services it provides should prioritize the health and wellness of the citizens it aims to represent. I will make transparency of how services are provided and decisions are made, and investing in improvements to our services, a priority of mine as Councilman.

- Sustainability - Our city is growing, and with that will come challenges. Growth should be sustainable, so that while we promote the expansion of opportunity, we do all we can to make sure our neighbors are not left behind. Exploring how new technologies can be developed right here in town for improving municipal services is something I will explore as a member of council.

- Solidarity - Decisions being made at the federal and state level inevitably cascade down to our small communities. We need to collaborate with public good organizations in our community to find equitable and solvent ways to enhance services, promote the general welfare of our citizens, and unite in solidarity, recognizing our shared experiences. As you consider who you might support for Alliance City Council, I'm happy to have good faith discussions with all of my neighbors on how I believe I and others in city government could address your concerns. Feel free to reach out to my campaign here!

Today I give thanks to all of the Veterans in the community for their service to our nation.

Want to extend special well wishes for our Alliance veterans Mel Rittner and Bill Fogel, who helped immensely during our campaign. Gentlemen, I'm grateful for your support, your stories and your dedication to our Alliance community.

As we canvassed the city and engaged with voters, we were told all sorts of reasons for their willingness to cast a vote for me. Some of the most important we heard included (in no particular order):

a) Streets and pavement in some areas seemingly being ignored.
b) Ordinances not being enforced across the city.
c) Holding landlords and property management companies accountable for deficiencies in their rental units and apartment buildings.
d) Not enough for families with young children to do.

49% of ballots cast in this election included a vote for me on one of the three ballot lines for City Council At-Large. This would not be possible with only Democratic voters. We had Non-Partisans and Republicans who found something in our campaign to vote for.

We even saw a much more competitive race in Ward 3 than we imagined, and if everyone who voted for me within that Ward would have voted for Jessica Risaliti, a decent, compassionate and capable person who simply didn't campaign due to understandable, personal reasons, we'd have gained a Democratic Ward 3 Councilwoman, by 7 votes.

This is an undeniable expression of change desired in our city. We just came up short.

I know at the same time, there were many voters we didn't have the opportunity to speak with. In the coming few months, I'll do what I can to make up for the conversations that were not had and to build the coalition of voters necessary to effect positive changes in our city, at the ballot box and beyond.

For all of you who have sent encouraging messages of support, hoping that we'll continue organizing and working for change...

Where'd you hear we'd stop? 😏
But in all seriousness, thank you again.

Thank you Alliance for your support!

I'm so grateful to our volunteers who did all they could to help. Because of their support, nearly 1,400 Alliance voters expressed their confidence in me and the vision for the city I offered, and that is so humbling and appreciated.

For all who saw something in our campaign to vote for, thank you for your vote. I appreciate every conversation we were able to have, every chance to learn about what matters to you, and to earn your trust. Though we came up short, we earned the highest vote total for any Democrat running for Alliance City Council At-Large in a long time.

If you're a voter who was not moved to turn out in our city election, it means we as candidates, whether in office or not, simply have that much more to do to show you that you have stakes in your local representation as much as the next citizen.

Congratulations to our elected At-Large Council members, I hope you serve the city effectively and with integrity. I will continue to advocate for what many residents have shown me matters in their city, and I hope they join me in showing up. Government only works when it's accountable to its citizens.

Congratulations to our new Law Director Andrew Selwa! I have every bit of confidence that Alliance will greatly benefit from your expertise and utmost competence.

Lastly, if you hosted a yard sign for me please be patient. I have to get back to work this morning. We will do all we can to gather them in the coming days!

Once again, thank you Alliance!

Today is the day to VOTE!

I wish all candidates the best, our county's amazing poll workers a smooth election, and all of Alliance's voters the opportunity to go out to their polling location and cast their ballot!

Take a friend with you and make a fun time out of it, it's a BEAUTIFUL day outside!

I was encouraged to run for local office by others based on what I was seeing in our community and becoming engaged on. From advocating for and alongside renters, to promoting our small businesses, to highlighting the wonderful causes in our communities, and to working towards building up Democratic outreach in our city. Through it all, I've had great support along the way, and whenever I'm told or hear through others of the kind and supportive words from our neighbors across the city, I've been truly humbled. Thank you.

This was never something I thought I would seek. It seeks you, and I encourage all citizens to participate more in our civic process. Show up to city council, to school board, to townhalls, demonstrate. Learn, engage, exchange, and cooperate where we can. Show up, with thought and conviction, because we're going to need a lot more of us.

However tomorrow goes, this has been quite the experience and I'll continue to speak my voice and encourage others to use theirs.

If you've already voted early/absentee, thank you.
If you've yet to turn out, make a plan to vote tomorrow, and I hope you'll vote for me for Alliance City Council At-large!

We get by with a little help from our friends. Thank you Jolyn and Rob for helping canvas this late afternoon!

Nikki and I brought the girls with us to this morning's Kiwanis Pancake Jamboree, and it was so nice to meet voters who wanted to offer their words of support.

Only three more days! We're putting it all out there to reach voters in Carnation City. Come along, we've got ways you can help!

A good night canvassing in Ward 4 tonight, with our team of four!

Grateful to learn from my fellow citizens and have them want to share their experiences with me, and to have the opportunity to listen intentionally so that I can provide perspective that I hope assists them in their voting decisions.

We also reached out to various absentee voters in our community, to make sure they return their ballots by Monday. Thankful to our volunteer who helped us get that done!

If you've been wanting to get off the sidelines and help us get over the finish line, now is the time! We could benefit from more volunteers for a few Get Out The Vote efforts over the next few days. Reach out, and we'll find a way you can help!

10/31/2025

Reminder! There are just three days of early voting left. Weekend hours are a great time to vote!
