It’s shaping up to be a pretty stormy night ⛈️

For your safety, we recommend staying indoors and keeping a safe distance from windows if possible. Make sure phones are charged, flashlights are handy, and keep an eye on local updates.

Stay safe and take care tonight

⚠️ Weather Alert for Our Area ⚠️
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for 28 counties, including Collin County, until 9 p.m. tonight (April 28).

Strong storms are expected across North and Central Texas this afternoon and evening. The main threats include large hail, damaging winds, and the possibility of tornadoes. While the strongest storms may develop east of the Metroplex, Allen is still included in the risk area.

Outdoor warning sirens are not only used for tornadoes. They may also sound for:
• Strong straight-line winds over 70 mph
• Large hail
• Tornadoes

Since sirens are meant to alert people who are outside, they may not always be heard indoors. Make sure you have another reliable way to get warnings, like a weather app, NOAA Weather Radio, or local news alerts.

Update: Today's Council Workshop has been canceled due the expected weather. The City Council Meeting will still be held at 7 P.M.

Heads up to our community!

Heads up to our community!

A quick heads‑up for our Allen community: The Texas Department of Public Safety Aircraft Operations Division will host a multi-agency Tactical Flight Officer training from Tuesday, Jan. 13, through Thursday, Jan. 15, in Allen and McKinney.

Training will take place in the evenings, from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. During this time, you may notice an increased law enforcement presence, including low-flying helicopters, coordinated movements with ground officers and a mock vehicle pursuit.

These exercises are planned, controlled and not related to any active incident. Training in real-world environments helps agencies strengthen coordination, improve response times and ensure officers are prepared to protect the public safely and effectively.

What a fantastic afternoon at last week’s Allen Holiday Parade! Allen CERT was proud to be out alongside so many incredible community partners, the Allen Escadrille, AHS MCJROTC, Allen Fire Department, City of Allen, Allen Police Department, and many more who help make our city such a special place.

And of course, the afternoon wouldn’t have been complete without a very special appearance from Santa himself, joined by Mrs. Claus, spreading smiles and holiday cheer down the parade route.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the season and support our community. We loved waving, smiling, and sharing the holiday spirit with all of you!

Thanksgiving reminds us how strong a community can be when people look out for one another. Allen CERT is thankful for our community, our families, and the opportunity to serve the City of Allen and Allen Independent School District. We are grateful for our CERT volunteers, our first responders at Allen Fire Department and Allen Police Department, and every neighbor who helps make our city safer. Please remember to practice fire safety while cooking and travel safely this holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving from your CERT family 🦃

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Allen CERT Program Leader, Ty Westfall. Ty was a devoted husband and father. To our CERT family, he was a steadfast leader, confidant, mentor, friend, steady hand, storyteller and someone who proved (many times) that ATV driving is not for everyone.

Ty guided us through challenges, supported us in moments of uncertainty, and showed us what true service from the heart looks like. He never hesitated to help, to teach, or to step up wherever he was needed. Whether offering guidance, encouragement, or simply being there to listen, Ty made each of us better. His steady presence and generous spirit shaped this team more than words can say.

Ty’s impact on our CERT family will be felt for years to come, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled. We will miss him deeply, but we are grateful for every moment, every lesson, and every laugh he shared with us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, and we will continue to honor the legacy he leaves behind in all of us.
