Median crossovers are not turnarounds or shortcuts. Crossing through a median at a location that is not designated for traffic is illegal and can be extremely dangerous.

These areas are designed to separate opposing lanes of traffic, not to provide a convenient place to make a U-turn. Drivers attempting to cross the median can create serious hazards for other motorists and potentially cause a severe crash.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of Corporal Kevin Keegan’s passing. He passed away unexpectedly on Monday evening at the hospital due to a sudden medical event. Kevin dedicated over 19 years of service to the Sheriff’s Office within the Jail, and his commitment, professionalism, and presence will be deeply missed. Please keep Kevin’s family, friends, and colleagues in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Sometime between 8-5-26 and 8-7-26 someone entered a contractor's locked enclosed trailer and stole a John Deere UTV Gator, a 16 inch Husqvarna chop saw, a Stihl chainsaw, and a 2,000 watt predator generator were stolen. The trailer was parked and secured on the south side of Alexandria and was forced into to gain access to the stolen property. The John Deere Gator was recovered in the southwest part of Hanson County in a tree belt. The remaining items are still missing.
