Today, nearly 200 City of Albany students gathered at the Albany County Courthouse, where they met Albany judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, Police Chief Brendan Cox, Deputy Chief Melissa Morey, Sheriff Craig Apple Sr., and District Attorney Lee Kindlon.

They learned an understanding of the law, took a tour of the courthouse, and enjoyed pizza for lunch.

Legal Lives is a 35-week initiative that enhances students understanding of the law and civic responsibility.

Albany Police are investigating a stabbing incident that occurred inside a residence at Capital Green apartments.

On Tuesday, June 2, 2026 around 1:25 p.m., officers responded to 400 Central Avenue for reports of an individual who had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers located a 67-year-old male with a stab wound to his neck.

The victim was treated on scene by the Albany Fire Department and emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital in stable condition.

The victim and the suspect are known to each other.

The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Albany Police Detective Division at (518) 462-8039.

Yesterday, members from APD took part in Albany County Department for Children, Youth, and Families Stepping Stone to Support Family Resource Fair. The rain didn't stop people who came out to enjoy food trucks, live music, children's activities, and APD's therapy dogs.
