My Name is Dan Plaat and I'm an active citizen of Abany NY. This is my political page for sharing what I'm doing, causes I support, and sharing of information and other political or partisan content I find worth your time. here are several ways to build a better world, one of those ways is with an electoral movement and take state power to free ourselves of big goverment, and empower ourselves to fight big business. I believe the Green party is a worthy organization to build a coalition of the Left to take power in the manner of our choosing. To this end I run campaigns for office and organize people outside of the two party duoploy. I work to build a new economy. One that belongs to communities, workers, and the 99%. I work with community radio because we need media that is OURS. I work with cooperatives and community orgs on urban projects because we need housing and a city that is OURS. We need jobs that are ours. we need an economy and country that is ours. To change everything, start anywhere.

Every environmental group in NY is supporting Proposition 1 based on the results set in front of us. The state violated the constitution in expanding ski facilities and having been caught a deal has been worked out for 1500 acres more preserved land elsewhere and thus the state managed facilities can be finished and compete globally. Being clear we are not seeking to oppose the Amendment: I share this post in the name of balance as a question of principle exists and should not be ignored: if preserved land can be developed for the sake of economic opportunity and international sports, Is 'forever' wild just mean, 'wild until its valuable enough' and then the saws and backhoes start up? What are these laws worth if the words mean so little. A state agency evoking this practice today, could be a 1%er resort tomorrow. Its not the same, but the spirit of "do the stuff and make it legal later". isn't that what Trump does? Outside these questions: here is a case for voting no.

There’s a reason we have such low November turnouts in Albany: most of the elections have already been decided in the low-turnout primaries. It's incredible how little choice this ballot contains for Election Day. There's so much we can do to improve how our elections work in Albany!

Monthly chapter meeting is today 6:30pm at the 2nd flr mtg room of the Albany Public Library Main branch. Our regular meetings are the last Thursdays of the month at this place and time. We are going for a consistency approach. Drop a line if your like anything to change. This time we are discussing state party reorganizing, outreach planning, event, and education planning.
