🌎 Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

From September 15 through October 15, we celebrate the history, culture, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.

Here in Linn, Benton & Lincoln Counties, our communities are stronger because of the people, families, businesses, organizations, and leaders who bring their experiences, traditions, and talents to the places we call home.

This month, we celebrate the richness of Hispanic heritage and the many ways it helps our communities grow, connect, and thrive.

Together, we’re building stronger communities from the Cascades to the Coast.

On Saturday, United Way of Linn, Benton & Lincoln Counties was grateful to join local community members for a day of service honoring the spirit of September 11.

It was meaningful to work side by side with neighbors, families, friends, and community members who came together to serve.

We’re grateful to JustServe for bringing this opportunity to our community and creating a space for people to come together through service.

We remember those we lost. We honor those who served. And we’re grateful for opportunities like this to carry that spirit of service forward in our own communities.

🥫 This Hunger Action Month, we’re taking action together.

One way United Way of Linn, Benton & Lincoln Counties helps address hunger is through our Day of Action meal-packaging events.

Local businesses sponsor these events, and we bring the businesses and their employees together to pack meals for Linn and Lincoln Counties. Those meals are then distributed to local nonprofits, who help get them into the hands of people in the communities who need them.

It’s team building with a purpose—and a tangible way for local businesses to make a difference.

💙 When we come together around a shared need, we can create meaningful impact in our communities.

Stay tuned later this month as we share more about the impact of our Lincoln City Day of Action, followed by our Linn County Day of Action in November.

September 11 | National Day of Service and Remembrance

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the first responders, service members, volunteers, and everyday people whose courage and compassion brought people together.

One way we can honor their memory is by serving our neighbors and strengthening our communities.

On Saturday, September 12, United Way of Linn, Benton & Lincoln Counties will join other local community members for a day of service hosted by JustServe, working side by side to make a difference in our community.

🔥 Volunteers Needed: Backyard BBQ Battle & Brews!

CASA of Linn County is getting ready for Backyard BBQ Battle & Brews at Deluxe Brewing in Albany—and they need your help!

Volunteers are needed Saturday, September 12 for:

🛠️ Event Setup | 11:30 AM–1:30 PM
Help set up tables, pop-up tents, raffle prizes, balloons, signs and more. Some physical lifting is required, including moving 40–60 lb. tent weights.

🚗 Parking | 3–6 PM
Help direct guests to parking and assist with accessible parking. Parking volunteers can sign up for a one-hour shift.

Have a couple of hours to give? Your time can help CASA of Linn County make this fundraiser a success and support the children and families they serve.

📚 Literacy opens doors to opportunity.

Today is International Literacy Day, a time to recognize the importance of literacy and lifelong learning for people of all ages.

Literacy helps people learn, communicate, access information, pursue education and employment, and participate fully in their communities.

At United Way of Linn, Benton & Lincoln Counties, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

One way we help locally is through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides children (birth to age 5) with a free, age-appropriate book every month. 📖❤️

The 2026 Western Regional Conference: United is the Way: Bold, Resilient, Transformative brought our United Way network together in Portland for meaningful conversations, new perspectives, and a shared look at what’s ahead.

Most importantly, the people who came together made this conference what it was. Thank you to United Way Worldwide for bringing us together, and to the United Way colleagues, sponsors, community partners, and educators who showed up with their ideas, experiences, curiosity, energy, and willingness to connect.
