🙏 Thank you to all who attended our Scam Awareness Presentations with Detective Sergeant Kevin Putnam. We had a lot of great conversations about how to stay safe from scams and even braved a tornado warning together!🌪️

⏰ Moving forward, these presentations will be held twice per year in the hopes of reducing scam victimization in the City of Adrian - once in the Spring and once in the Fall.

On September 3rd, the Adrian Police Department will be hosting two, one-hour presentations on "Scam Prevention and Awareness" inside the City Commission Chambers. Detective Sergeant Kevin Putnam will discuss why scams work, the most commonly seen scams, how to stay safe, and what to do if targeted. This presentation is open to the public and will be followed by a Q/A session. Please join us at 10am or 4pm and learn how to stay safe from scams!

We regret to announce the passing of retired APD Lt. Louis “Lou” Aldrich. Lou retired in 1999 after a successful career with the Adrian Police Department and was loved by many for his sense of duty and compassion.

Memorial visitation for Lou will be on Sunday, September 13, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a time of sharing at 7:00 pm at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian, MI. Memorial mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Holy Family Parish-St. Mary Campus with Fr. Miguel Colunga presiding. A private interment will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Lenawee or Folds of Honor. Friends can express sympathies to the family online by visiting the tribute wall at www.marryfh.com. Arrangements have been made with the guidance of the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.

🚨 PSA: An Adrian resident contacted our office after her elderly parents received a concerning phone call. The caller claimed to be a police officer and informed them that their daughter had been in a terrible car crash. Her parents could hear a female screaming in the background, but they were able to call her and prove everything was false.

💸 It is highly likely that this caller’s parents were being targeted by scammers pretending to be law enforcement. This tactic has been increasingly utilized by scammers over the past few weeks.

🔎 Although law enforcement may contact you occasionally for legitimate purposes, officers will NEVER ask for money. If someone claims to be law enforcement and asks for money, HANG UP immediately and contact the Adrian Police Department.

👋 Hi there! I’m a crypto ATM and my sole purpose is to help scammers steal money from people.

🚨 In the past week, multiple victims in the City of Adrian have lost almost $10,000 total through these ATMs. Scammers often trick unsuspecting people by pretending to be law enforcement and threatening arrest. Victims are then sent QR codes and told to send money through Bitcoin or other virtual currencies.

💸 Once sent, transactions are IRREVERSIBLE so prevention is key!

🚔 These ATMs are located throughout Lenawee County - usually in gas stations - and multiple are in the City of Adrian. Although they are not inherently illegal, almost all activity involves scams. The Adrian Police Department has posted the attached anti-scam flyer above each ATM and would like to thank our local businesses for allowing us to warn potential victims.

UPDATE: Breanna has been found and returned to home. Thank you to all who shared this and called in.

🚨Missing/Endangered

On 07/21/26 at 10pm, Breanna Tinsley (19yo) walked away from her home in the 300 Block of E Maumee St. Breanna has a learning disability and functions at a 2nd grade level. She was last seen wearing leopard print pants with an orange shirt and tan slippers. Breanna likes walking to Tecumseh, MI and previously attended school there.

If found, please call 9-1-1 immediately so law enforcement can help Breanna return home safely!

🚨PSA: There has be a recent increase in vehicle break-ins over the past week. Please keep your vehicles locked overnight and do not leave any valuables stored outside. Almost all of these break-ins have involved unlocked cars.

If you discover your car was broken into, please call 9-1-1 to have an officer respond. These are crimes of opportunity, and several cars are often burglarized in the same area. Solving one case could solve many! If you see anything suspicious, please call 9-1-1 so officers can conduct extra patrol. 🚔
