World Health Organization having identified an outbreak of Polio in the country (Uganda) ,neighbouring countries and in the Horn of Africa Region.Its unfortunate that this Poliovirus has found its way into Kampala ,Mukono an Wakiso.,Ministry of Health has organized a polio vaccination campaign to vaccinate all children below the age of 5 to stop further spread of the current polio outbreak.
During the meeting of all Rukungiri district council leaders at the district headquarters ,the Assistant DHO Mrs Kyomuhagyi Christine called upon them to take action to mobilize parents and communities ensuring that all their children under five 5 years of age are vaccinated against Polio .
She mentioned that this excercise will be run by One VHT together with the local council leader ,a medical worker moving House to House.
The government therefore calls upon all the stakeholders to ensure that every child under five (5) years of age is identified,mapped and immunized against Polio.
We continue to remind all adults to pay special attention to children's Health and if any paralysis case is identified ,report to a health worker as soon as possible!!
