Today, Lord mayor Salongo Engineer Balimwezo Ronald Nsubuga flagged off KCCA schools travelling to Mubende for a schools competition. I called on those occupying or encroaching on school land to return it. School land is a valuable public asset belonging to the people and must be protected for present and future generations.

I also urged our learners to focus on academic excellence, sports, talent, discipline and teamwork.

To our learners in Mubende, go and make Kampala proud! 🙏🏾

Today, the Kampala Lord Mayor, KCCA Executive Director Hajjat Shariffa Buzeki, and the Lord Councillors paid an official visit to the Katikiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, at Bulange Mengo.

The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration between KCCA and the Buganda Kingdom as we work together to transform Kampala into a smart, inclusive and organised city. 🇺🇬🤝👑

Today, 14th July 2026, I led a joint inspection of ongoing road construction projects across Kampala to assess progress, quality of work, and compliance with project timelines.

The inspection was attended by the RCC for Kampala, Hon. Luke Mawiya; my Deputy Lord Mayor, Her Worship Faridah Nakabugo; His Worship Uhuru Salim; the Minister of Finance, Hon. Dr. Shamim Nambassa; the Minister of Social Services, Hon. Dr. Judith Nalukwago; the Manager of Roads, Eng. Andrew Sserunjogi; Authority Councillor Kalyango; Councillor Bahati; and other political leaders and technical officials.

During the inspection, I expressed concern over the slow progress of several projects and warned consultants, KCCA project managers, and contractors that continued delays would attract liquidated damages in accordance with the contract provisions. I emphasized the need to deliver quality infrastructure within the agreed timelines to minimize inconvenience to the public.

The RCC for Kampala also urged contractors to accelerate the works and ensure all projects are completed on schedule. In response, the contractors committed to recovering lost time by extending working hours, including introducing night shifts where necessary, to expedite construction and meet the agreed project deadlines.

Yesterday, when I visited our Deputy President for Buganda, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, I confidently told him, By the grace of God, I believe tomorrow you are going home.

We knelt down and prayed together. In my prayer, I asked God to guide the magistrate, grant mercy to our leader, and let justice prevail.

Today, by God's grace, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi has been granted cash bail of UGX 10,000,000. The God I serve is alive and has not put my faith to shame. Thank You, Lord!

However, six accused persons remain on remand after their sureties were found incompetent. They are expected to return to court on 13th July 2026 with new sureties. We continue to pray that justice will prevail for them as well.

Today, together with Deputy Lord Mayor Hon. Faridah Nakabugo and the Executive Committee, we visited political prisoners at Kitalya Prison.

We stand in solidarity with our Deputy President for Buganda, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, ahead of his bail ruling tomorrow, as he continues to seek justice for the 10 people killed at his home.

We also met detainees, including Mugumya Gadaffi, Wakabi Grace, and Kato Umar, some held on remand for up to six years despite the Supreme Court ruling of 31 January 2025.

They raised concerns over power outages, water shortages, and congestion in wards. We urge the relevant authorities to act urgently and uphold the dignity and rights of all prisoners.

Today, I met with the Council for Older Persons of Kampala Capital City to discuss key concerns affecting their welfare, including inadequate funding, lack of office space, access to quality healthcare, and property rights. We committed to engaging the relevant institutions and convening a follow-up meeting to find practical solutions. Our older persons deserve dignity, protection, and the support they need to live healthy and secure lives.

I have been keenly following everything happening at KCCA since morning. In my absence, I have been in constant communication with my Deputy Lord Mayor, Faridah Nakubugo, who has been updating me on the arrests of people in different parts of Kampala.

As Deputy Lord Mayor, she made efforts to establish who was responsible for these arrests and why the individuals were being detained, but no clear responses were provided. Those arrested were being held in inappropriate locations, including offices meant for KCCA staff.

This evening, I was informed that two of my staff members, Kintu William, my photographer, and Nsubuga James, our driver, were picked up by a drone vehicle, briefly taken to court, and later transferred to Luzira Prison until 21st July.

It is deeply concerning to witness such actions against citizens and workers carrying out their duties. When will these injustices come to an end in our country?
