More than 400 years after its discovery by astronomer Galileo Galilei, a geological map of Jupiter's largest moon Ganymede has been created. The map combines the best images taken by Voyager 1 and 2 and the Galileo orbiter.

We've all heard about the right brain-left brain theory, which we owe to Nobel Prize winner Roger W. Sperry. The theory suggests that ‘left-brained’ people are more logical and analytic than ‘right-brained’ people, who are more creative and have a holistic approach to life, but is it true? Despite its popularity, researchers say that most people learn to be both logical and creative and that lateralised patterns of brain activity change as we age.

The Large European Acoustic Facility (LEAF) was built to stress-test satellites. The chamber is 11 metres wide by 16.4 metres tall and it’s located in the Netherlands. Stand inside and you’ll be subjected to noise up to more than 154 decibels, which is loud enough to kill you (remember that 85 decibels are enough to cause hearing loss). LEAF only operates when the doors are shut and is covered with materials that isolate it.
