Promoting LGBTQIA+ rights, gender equality, diversity and inclusion 🌈, the German Embassy participated in Bangkok’s Pride Parade yesterday!

Germany has a long history of LGBTQ activism and rights movements culminating in the legalization of gay marriage in 2017. Stay tuned for more information on Germany’s LGBTQIA+ history and culture in the coming weeks!

In 🇩🇪 Christopher Street Day celebrations kick off in Düsseldorf later this week and will take place in different cities later this summer (Cologne and Berlin – July; Hamburg – August).

คุณเคยได้ยินคำว่า “มารดาแห่งกฎหมายพื้นฐานเยอรมนี” (Mütter des deutschen Grundgesetzes) หรือไม่?🧐


วันที่ 23 พฤษภาคม เป็น “วันแห่งกฎหมายพื้นฐาน” (Day of the Basic Law) ของเยอรมนี ในปีนี้ เราขอร่วมเฉลิมฉลองรากฐานประชาธิปไตยของเยอรมนี และสตรีผู้โดดเด่นทั้ง 4 คนที่มีส่วนสำคัญในการวางรากฐานดังกล่าว:
เอลิซาเบธ เซลแบร์ท (Elisabeth Selbert), ฟรีเดอริเคอ นาดิก (Friederike Nadig), เฮเลเนอ เวเบอร์ (Helene Weber) และ เฮเลเนอ เวสเซิล (Helene Wessel)😌

ในช่วงปี ค.ศ.1948/49 พวกเธอเป็นผู้หญิงเพียง 4 คน ท่ามกลางสมาชิกชายอีก 61คนในสภาร่างรัฐธรรมนูญ (Parlamentarischer Rat) และต้องเผชิญกับแรงต่อต้านไม่น้อย ก่อนจะผลักดันให้ข้อความในมาตรา 3 วรรค 2 ได้รับการบรรจุไว้ในรัฐธรรมนูญว่า “ชายและหญิงมีสิทธิเท่าเทียมกัน”📖

Have you ever heard of the “Mothers of the Basic Law” (Mütter des deutschen Grundgesetzes)?🧐

23 May is the “Day of the Basic Law” in Germany. This year, we celebrate Germany’s democratic foundation and the four extraordinary women who helped shape it: Elisabeth Selbert, Friederike Nadig, Helene Weber, and Helene Wessel.😌

In 1948/49, standing alongside 61 men in the Parliamentary Council (Parlamentarischer Rat), they overcame intense resistance to ensure that Article 3, Paragraph 2 was anchored in the constitution: “Women and men shall have equal rights.”📖

Their dedication went far beyond symbolism. By establishing gender equality as a core constitutional principle, they laid the legal foundation for decades of fundamental reforms, from equal workplace treatment to the State’s ongoing mandate to actively eliminate disadvantages.

The legacy of the "Mütter des Grundgesetzes" continues to strengthen German democracy today, serving as a timeless reminder that human rights and equality require continuous dedication! 💪

Finally visited Chiang Mai - a trip long overdue. Deeply impressed by its historical sites, enchanted by its nature and charmed by its people.🙏

วันนี้เป็นวันสุดท้ายของงานAGRITECHNICA ASIA 2026 (มหกรรมแสดงสินค้าและเทคโนโลยีด้านการเกษตรนานาชาติ) ซึ่งจัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 20–22พฤษภาคม ณ กรุงเทพมหานคร
