STATEMENT BY HONORABLE BARECH LUAL CHOL, MINISTER OF GENERAL EDUCATION AND INSTRUCTIONS
On Sunday, 17th May 2026, Honorable Barech Lual Chol, Minister of General Education and Instructions, attended the inaugural ceremony of the Akoka Students' Association, which included both basic and secondary students. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including ministers, the Akoka County Commissioner, state parliamentarians, local traditional leaders, and students.
During the event, traditional leaders emphasized the importance of education, urging the youth to prioritize learning. They also highlighted the pressing issue of the lack of educational opportunities within the Dongjol community, calling for urgent attention and support.
The Minister assured all present that the Ministry of General Education and Instructions, along with the government, is committed to supporting educational development in the region. He congratulated the students for their remarkable achievements and encouraged them to remain focused and dedicated to their studies.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by the Akoka community and the Northern Upper Nile region, particularly in accessing quality education, He reaffirmed the government's commitment to support educational initiatives and urged students to work together for a brighter future, the Minister urged unity among the students and community members.
The Minister concluded by assuring the students of continuous support from the Ministry and the state government, emphasizing that education is the key to development and progress for all.
