The SPLM Women’s League hosted a successful and memorable lunch at SPLM House, attended by the SPLM Secretary General, Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit, alongside members of the SPLM Political Bureau, and libration council and the SPLM Women’s League Chairperson, Cde. Adak Costa Mapuor.

The occasion brought together SPLM leaders and women in a spirit of unity, solidarity, and commitment to the advancement of women and the SPLM.

In her remarks, Cde. Adak Costa Mapuor, Chairperson of the SPLM Women’s League, expressed her profound appreciation to H.E. the President of the Republic of South Sudan and SPLM Chairman for his continued support, visionary leadership, and commitment to the great mission of the SPLM.

She also extended her sincere appreciation to Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit, SPLM Secretary General, for his steadfast support and for consistently standing with the SPLM Women’s League and women across the Republic of South Sudan. His commitment and encouragement remain an important source of strength for women’s participation and leadership in the country.

The luncheon was a celebration of unity, leadership, solidarity, and the important role of women in building a stronger SPLM and a prosperous South Sudan.

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Women League successfully concluded its First National Constitutional Conference in Juba under the theme "Empowered Woman, Empowered Nation".

The high-level event was chaired by SPLM First Deputy Chairman Cde. Dr. Prof. James Wani Igga, Second Deputy Chairperson Cde. Mary Apai Ayiga, Third Deputy Chairperson Cde. Simon Kun Pouch, and SPLM Secretary General Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit, alongside his two deputies, Cde. Koang Danhier and Cde. Baba Medan. The proceedings also saw active participation from Members of the SPLM Political Bureau, the SPLM National Liberation Council, the SPLM Parliamentary and Executive Caucuses, Members of SPLM National Secretariat National Women's League Chairlady Cde. Adak Costa, National Youth League, Red Army League/ Foundation and SPLM Women's League delegates representing all the states and administrative areas.

Over the course of three intensive days of deliberation supervised by SPLM Secretary General Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit under the auspices of the SPLM National Secretariat through popular and syndicated organisations led by Cde. Mary Paul Ngondeng, delegates thoroughly reviewed the political and socio-economic landscape, focusing on pressing matters critical to grassroots empowerment and national stability. The conference successfully passed the SPLM Women League’s Constitution, strategized on nationwide voter mobilization ahead of the upcoming general elections, and strongly condemned all forms of inter-communal violence and youth delinquency. Coming out of these extensive discussions, the women's league delegates issued a definitive communiqué reflecting the collective vision of the ruling party.

Key highlights from the official resolutions include unanimously nominating Comrade Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit for the position of Chairman of the SPLM at the upcoming 3rd National Convention and endorsing him as the sole presidential candidate for the December 2026 general elections, alongside recommending the inclusion of the SPLM Women League Chairperson as a member of the Political Bureau.

The Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) has officially announced the convening of the historic SPLM Women League 1st National Constitutional Conference 2026 under the theme: "Empowered Women, Empowered Nation." Running from 11th–13th August 2026 at the Bank of South Sudan (Boss) Conference Hall in Juba, bringing together women leaders, delegates, and stakeholders from across the country to deliberate on the constitutional framework and strengthen the role of women in democratic governance.

The landmark event features prominent addresses from SPLM Chairman and President of the Republic, H.E. Cde. Salva Kiir Mayardit, SPLM Secretary General Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit, SPLM Deputy Secretary General Cde. Baba Medan Konyi, SPLM Secretary for Popular and Syndicated Organizations Cde. Mary Paul Ngondeng, and SPLM National Women's League Chairlady Cde. Adak Costa. The gathering celebrates a historic milestone, the finalization and validation of a contemporary, unifying constitution.

Opening the conference, SPLM Chairman H.E. Comrade Salva Kiir Mayardit highlighted the long-standing commitment of the SPLM to women’s participation and empowerment, noting with conviction that "gender equality has always been a cornerstone of the SPLM party." The Chairman further directed the Secretary General to organise the party and prepare for the Congresses and SPLM third convention ahead of the December General Elections.
