Minister of Energy and Dams meets with a delegation from the Nile Basin Initiative....

Juba, May 25, 2026

The Minister of Energy and Dams, Maulana Agok Makur, held a meeting with the Nile Basin Initiative team, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Dams, Engineer Macham Macham Angui, to follow up on and implement the electricity interconnection project between South Sudan and Uganda. A memorandum of understanding was signed, and the progress of the project was discussed.

The Minister explained that work on the project is progressing well, with expectations of its completion on schedule. This will pave the way for the commissioning of the electricity transmission line from Uganda to South Sudan, a step he described as crucial for enhancing energy supplies and supporting development.

For his part, Dr Isaak Alukwa, Regional Coordinator of the Nile Basin Initiative Projects Unit, stated that he and his team had come to brief the Minister on the project's progress and the challenges facing its implementation.

He noted that the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at supporting efforts to mobilise the necessary resources for the project. He explained that the Nile Basin Initiative will work in cooperation with the European Union and development partners to contribute to the project's implementation and ensure continued support until its completion.




وزير الطاقة والسدود يلتقي بوفد من مبادرة حوض النيل....

عقد وزير الطاقة والسدود، مولانا أقوك ماكور، اجتماعًا مع فريق مبادرة حوض النيل، بحضور وكيل وزارة الطاقة والسدود، المهندس مشام مشام أنقوي، وذلك في إطار متابعة وتنفيذ مشروع الربط الكهربائي بين جنوب السودان وأوغندا، إلى جانب توقيع مذكرة تفاهم ومناقشة سير العمل والتقدم المُحرز في المشروع.

وأوضح الوزير أن العمل في المشروع يسير بصورة جيدة، مع توقعات بإكماله في الوقت المحدد، تمهيداً لبدء تشغيل خط نقل الكهرباء من أوغندا إلى جنوب السودان، في خطوة وصفها بالمهمة لتعزيز إمدادات الطاقة ودعم التنمية.

من جانبه، قال الدكتور إيذاك ألوكوا، المنسق الإقليمي لوحدة مشروعات مبادرة حوض النيل ، إنهم وصلوا برفقة فريقهم لإطلاع الوزير على مستوى التقدم المُحرز في المشروع والتحديات التي تواجه التنفيذ.

وأشار إلى أن الجانبين وقّعا مذكرة تفاهم تهدف إلى دعم جهود حشد الموارد اللازمة للمشروع، موضحاً أن مبادرة حوض النيل ستعمل بالتعاون مع الاتحاد الأوروبي وشركاء التنمية للمساهمة في تنفيذ المشروع وضمان استمرارية دعمه حتى اكتماله.

𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝐌𝐀𝐘 𝟐𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – The Council of Ministers in its regular meeting chaired by His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit has approved new policies meant to enhance governance and public service delivery through the introduction of changes in the Revitalised Peace Agreement.

The Cabinet has also approved new regulations regarding the management of government vehicles and reforms to strengthen the prison feeding system. According to the government, the reforms are geared towards improving institutional reforms and public resource management.

A new policy framework has been reviewed and approved, which will ensure the establishment of a centralised and standard prison feeding system. The policy mandates the Ministry of Interior to manage standard procurement, menu planning, and other monitoring services in relation to prisoner feeding.

Cabinet further passed a Policy framework and strategic plan of the ministry of parliamentary affairs (MPA) for the period 2025-2030 to guide ministry and it’s stakeholders in implementing activities aligned with its mandate in an efficient and effective manner.

The Minister of Energy receives an official invitation to participate in a major economic event in Russia.......

The Minister of Energy and Dams, Agok Makur Kor, received an official invitation from the Russian Ambassador Aleksandr V. Kosmodemiyanskiy to the country to participate in the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which will take place from June 3 to 6, 2026, at the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The event is widely recognised as Russia's premier international business event, it attracts tens of thousands of global leaders, investors, and policymakers to discuss the global economy and emerging markets.

In this context, the Minister expressed his pleasure at the invitation and thanked the Russian Federation, represented by the Ambassador.

He also affirmed his readiness to participate in this important event as an opportunity to showcase the country's significant energy potential and encourage foreign investors and Russian companies to invest in the sector, thereby driving development and prosperity.

تلقى وزير الطاقة والسدود، أقوك ماكور كور، دعوة رسمية من ألكسندر ف. كوسموديمياينسكي سفير روسيا لدى البلاد للمشاركة في منتدى سانت بطرسبرغ الاقتصادي الدولي التاسع والعشرون (SPIEF)، الذي سيُعقد في الفترة من 3 إلى 6 يونيو 2026، في مركز إكسبوفوروم للمؤتمرات والمعارض.

يُعدّ هذا الحدث من أبرز الفعاليات التجارية الدولية في روسيا، حيث يستقطب عشرات الآلاف من القادة والمستثمرين وصناع السياسات العالميين لمناقشة الاقتصاد العالمي والأسواق الناشئة.

Minister of Energy Meets with Member of Parliament and Politician Joseph Sudani…

The Minister of Energy and Dams, Agok Makur, met with the Member of Parliament and Deputy Chairman of the South Sudan National Movement Party, Mr Joseph Sudani.

The meeting addressed the current political situation and its impact on service sectors such as energy and dams, as well as other issues of concern to the people of South Sudan.

The Minister thanked the Member of Parliament for the visit, which he said reflected the friendly and personal relationship between the two officials.

جوبا : ١٢ مايو ٢٠٢.

التقى وزير الطاقة والسدود أقوك ماكور بالعضو البرلماني ونائب رئيس حزب الحركة الوطنية لجنوب السودان السيد جوزيف سوداني، وبحث اللقاء الراهن السياسي وتأثير الأوضاع العامة على القطاع الخدمي مثل الطاقة والسدود وقضايا أخرى تهم شعب جنوب السودان.

وشكر الوزير العضو البرلماني على الزيارة التي جاءت في إطار العلاقات الودية والشخصية التي تجمع الطرفين.

The Minister of Energy presents opportunities in the energy sector to Shamcon Trading Company Limited......

As part of his meetings to explore available opportunities related to energy and development projects, the Minister of Energy and Dams, Maulana Agok Makur, met with a group of founders of Shamcon General Trading Company to discuss potential cooperation in the sector.

The Minister welcomed the group and presented them with proposed opportunities and projects in the field of energy and dams, emphasising the Ministry's openness to allowing companies to compete.

The company delegation included Al-Fatih Lutfi, grandson of Sheikh Lutfi, founder of the Sheikh Lutfi Schools in Rufa'a, Al-Jazirah State, Sudan.

He was accompanied on the visit by Mohammed Ismail Abu Shama and Engineer Zabloun Mosiria.

The Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation departed Juba today following an official visit during which he held discussions with Hon. Agok Makur Kur, Minister of Energy and Dams, along with a number of government officials, on opportunities for cooperation in the fields of energy and investment.
He was seen off at Juba International Airport by Hon. Agok Makur Kur, as both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening the joint partnership and expanding technical and investment cooperation between the two countries.

#اختتام زيارة رسمية لمسؤول روسي إلى جوبا لبحث التعاون في قطاع الطاقة.

5 مايو 2026م .

اختتم نائب وزير الطاقة بجمهورية روسيا الفيدرالية زيارته الرسمية إلى جمهورية جنوب السودان، وغادر العاصمة جوبا اليوم بعد أيام من اللقاءات الرسمية التي جمعته بعدد من قيادات الدولة، وفي مقدمتهم مولانا أقوك ماكور كور، وزير الطاقة والسدود، الذي كان في مقدمة مودعيه بمطار جوبا الدولي.
وشهدت الزيارة مناقشات موسعة حول فرص التعاون بين الجانبين في مجالات الكهرباء والطاقة والاستثمار، إضافة إلى استعراض الخطط المستقبلية الرامية إلى تطوير البنية التحتية للطاقة وتعزيز قدرات القطاع الحيوي في البلاد.
كما تطرقت المباحثات إلى إمكانية الاستفادة من الخبرات الروسية في تنفيذ المشروعات الفنية وتبادل الخبرات والتقنيات الحديثة، بما يدعم جهود حكومة جنوب السودان في تحسين خدمات الكهرباء ودفع مسيرة التنمية الاقتصادية.
وأعرب الجانبان عن ارتياحهما لمستوى التفاهم الذي ساد اللقاءات، مع التأكيد على أهمية استمرار التواصل وفتح آفاق جديدة للتعاون المشترك خلال المرحلة المقبلة.
