South Sudan and Ethiopia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen economic ties through a major road connectivity project.
The agreement was advanced during a high-level meeting in Juba between Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel and an Ethiopian delegation led by Amb. Girma Biru, Senior Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister, and Finance Minister Ahmed Shide. South Sudanese officials included Finance Minister Athian Diing Athian and Central Bank Governor Dr. Addis Ababa Odhow.
The two sides reviewed earlier commitments made by President Salva Kiir and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, with discussions extending to infrastructure, energy, air transport, telecoms, banking, human resource development, and petroleum.
Vice President Bol Mel urged swift implementation, emphasizing that improved connectivity would boost trade, create jobs, and expand opportunities for citizens.
