UNMISS HANDOVER NEW APRON-SOUTH SUDAN CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY.

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan has today 21st, Aug. 2026 conducted a handing-over ceremony of the JIA new apron to the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority.

The handing over of the new apron to SSCAA was officiated by the South Sudan Civil aviation Administration team headed by the Director General’s Dr. Ayiei Garang Deng. During the ceremony, the new apron is said to be of the significance important to enhance and strengthen the operations of the JIA, since its establishment expansion.

Speaking during the event, UNMISS Chief of General staff, Leda Limann reaffirmed their commitments in continuing the partnership and cooperations with the government and the South Sudan civil aviation authority during the time of needs to modernize infrastructure projects of the Juba International Airport to meets the highest recommended capacity of the international standards.

The Director General of S.Sudan civil aviation authority Dr. Ayiei Garang, acknowledged and praised the cooperation between the SSCAA snd the UNMISS . On his part, Garang successfully reassured a full security supports to the UNMISS Engineering’s teams during this infrastructural development project at JIA to upgrades and improves its performance.

The two partners expressed their concerns commitments in making sure that, JIA will continues enhancing its structures to attract its recognitions across the world Countries partnering with South Sudan in aviation industry.

SSCAA-On job training of the phase ll of aviation security inspectors concluded.

The four days of the on-job-training of aviation security inspectors from 10-14th, Aug. 2026, which was conducted by the EAC-CASSOA expert concluded today at South Sudan Civil Aviation authority’s headquarters’s. The aviation security training focused on the safety measures that ensures empowering inspectors oversights, to executes and discharge their duties with professionalism as recommended by the best practices of ICAO, international regulations.

Speaking during the conclusion of the training program, the Director for aviation safety and security, Mr. Johnson Marun acknowledged the efforts asserted by the instructor during the training session of the inspectors.

The Manager of AVSEC, facilitator and regulatory Mr. Meen Chol appreciates and encourages the aviation security inspectors who undergone a critical evaluation during the validated training sessions.

The training marks a significant milestone in providing accredited credentials to the trained personnel for the purposes of improving the oversight performances at Juba International Airport.

SSCAA and stakeholders kick-off a four(4) days Workshop on S.Sudan Meteorological Validation framework Draft policy Bill, on Monday at Redison Blu.

The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority, Ministry of transports, in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), officiated workshop on Monday August, 3rd 2026, at Redison Blu, on validation draft Meteorological policy framework, draft Meteorological services bill and strategic plan of the South Sudan Meteorological Services.

The purpose of the bills is to establish South Sudan meteorological authority to regulate, monitor and coordinate weather and climate services in compliance with international standards, provide accurate, timely weather and climatic information and issue early warnings information, and protect life and properties and supports social economic development.

The four-days workshop on the Meteorology Framework draft bills, intends to achieves validate and aligns all instruments, further strengthen stakeholders consensus and handover the package to the Ministry.

This process will further strengthen supports establishment of a Semi-autonomous agency for meteorology, ensure coherence alignments among the instruments and strengthen ownership and implementation commitments.

Speaking during the workshop, the Director of Corporate Services Mr. Daffala Habib who shared remarks on behalf of the Director General of the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority, acknowledged and appreciates the significance importance of the critical Meteorological documents to be reviewed and encourages stakeholders and the government participants to work collectively in making sure that, this meteorological draft bills is reviewed and validated to ensure the ownership. He further expressed his thanks to the (WMO) for their generosity supports towards Meteorological services in S.Sudan.

In other-wards, the World Meteorological Organization expresses their readiness and commitments towards establishing and implementing the processes of materializing a ready draft policy to the authorities concerns.

The workshop is expected to address key issues on the basis of implementing successes of the Meteorological aspects in South Sudan.

PUBLIC NOTICE

Transition to International Terminal 3 and Passenger Access Advisory

The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) wishes to inform the travelling public that, following the successful inauguration of International Terminal 3 at Juba International Airport, SSCAA Management has been working closely with all international airlines to ensure a smooth and seamless transition of all international flight operations from Terminals 1 and 2 to International Terminal 3, without disrupting airline operations or passenger travel. We are pleased to confirm that the transition has now been successfully completed.

Effective immediately, all international departing flights will operate from International Terminal 3. Passengers are kindly advised to confirm their departure terminal with their respective airline before travelling to the airport.

To strengthen aviation security and improve passenger safety and comfort, the following measures are now in effect:

Access to International Terminal 3 is restricted to passengers holding a valid airline ticket and authorised airport personnel only.
Only the passenger travelling will be allowed to enter the terminal and complete the check-in process. Check-in on behalf of another person is not permitted.
Family members, friends, and other visitors will not be allowed inside the terminal building. We kindly ask all well-wishers to say their farewells outside the terminal.
Passengers are encouraged to arrive at the airport early and carry their valid travel documents for security screening and check-in.

These measures are in accordance with international aviation security standards and are intended to ensure safe, secure, and efficient operations at Juba International Airport.

The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority appreciates the understanding, patience, and cooperation of the travelling public, our airline partners, and all stakeholders during this important transition.

As part of the preparations to operationalize the newly launched Terminal 3, the management of Juba International Airport has handed over 260 pairs of safety shoes to aviation security AVSEC members. This initiative follows the successful completion of training program on risk assessment and cybersecurity threats, aimed at enhancing workplace safety, security awareness, and operational readiness.

The training equipped staff with essential skills to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks while strengthening their understanding of cybersecurity challenges in the aviation sector. The provision of safety shoes further demonstrates the airport management’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure working environment as Terminal 3 begins operation soon

President Kiir officially launches Terminal 3 at Juba Internal airport

President Salva Kiir Mayardit officially inaugurated Terminal 3 at Juba International Airport.

According to the statement extended to the media, the head of state declared the terminal open today.

Construction of the terminal began 17 years ago, with the intention of inaugurating it on the eve of Independence Day. However, the deadline could not be met due to various challenges.

The new terminal will serve international passengers and enhance the capacity of Juba International Airport.
