Climate Change Through the Eyes of Smallholder Farmers 🌱
Climate change in Puntland is not abstract.
It is felt in disrupted seasons, unpredictable rainfall, water scarcity, and new pests that destroy crops and livelihoods.
In this video, smallholder farmers share—in their own words—how climate change has transformed farming, how they observe early signs of risk, and how they adapt through local knowledge, persistence, and innovation. They speak about coping strategies, success stories, and major challenges such as pests, water stress, and post-harvest losses.
Their message is clear:
👉 Displacement is not inevitable. Early warning and early action save livelihoods.
When farmers know early, they can act early.
When local knowledge is respected and shared, communities become more resilient.
When youth support monitoring, reporting, and preparedness, climate risks can be reduced before crisis turns into forced migration.
This video is part of Somali Civic Voice (SCV)’s Climate Mobility and Unsafe Migration Series, amplifying community voices and promoting youth-led, localized early warning and early action systems in Somalia.
