Regeneration Investment Fund is a company limited by guarantee registered and based in Freetown, Sierra Leone with the Company’s Commission with Registration No…. The Business of RIF-SL is the establishment of private equity funds that will cater for mid career Sierra Leoneans, and other nationals, as its clients and financiers. The Fund aims at attracting young people to invest in the country and
solve some of the growing social problems with the possibility of high returns. Most investments in Sierra Leone are either foreign direct investment or government owned. The middle class has not harnessed the powers it has to change the face of its country. Many young people rely a lot on the state and government to create the necessary opportunity. This trend has affected the independent mindset of the young professionals, middle class which has been abused. Social problems such as housing for mid career professionals remain unattended to. Youth problems and employment remain high and many young people think soccer is a way to escaping poverty. There are thousand of youth engaged in soccer on a daily basis. There are few real middle class wealth investors in the country. The trend must stop and RIF is here to break from the yoke of inactiveness to strengthening a broader middle class. Sierra Leoneans pay one of the highest tariff for telecommunication. Weak regulatory framework, mobile phone companies charge rates that are highest in the world. There is a dearth of competition that will lower the tariff and investing in telecommunications and ICT is certainly away for RIF. Further, the tropical rain forest and arable land, Sierra Leone has become hotspot for land grabbing. Particularly now that the Chinese have shown huge interests in the country, there is every need for middle class Sierra Leoneans to engage the agricultural sector. So, Sierra Leonean mid career invest into RIF through shares purchase and the fund, in turn, invests the share money into huge social problems like urban affordable housing, loans et al. Investments like homes for fresh graduates that will cover the basic needs of one room self-contained apartment, two rooms self-contained apartment, three rooms self-contained apartment brings monthly or yearly returns. It also solves the problem of housing for career beginners who would want to live on their own, and mid level career professionals confortable enough to raise a family. With housing and independence, its further creates an independent minded working class. RIF-SL aims to address some of these social issues and empower the middle class with resources. The aim of this investment is to have Sierra Leonean young people invest into the country and move the young away from the dependency on government and state owned apparatus. The present problem is that most Sierra Leoneans believe the only way to survive is through government and they blindly supports political parties based on tribe and regional politics. Therefore, this venture also aims at solving the political problems of tribe and region divide. If a strong middle class emerged and a culture of reliance on jobs rather than family ties and political alignment is enrooted, this will ripple into the broader change of the decadent political mindset.
