26th February 2026 - The Technical and Communication team of the Sierra Leone Students' Loan Scheme (SLOAN-SL) met today with Wangov in order to map the way forward to address the burning issues that arise during the application process 2025/26 academic year.

Both the head of Communications and Technical team of Wangov met at the CEO's office and ICT unit respectively to address and solve these burning issues in order to have a successful application for this year 2026/27.

For decades, Sierra Leonean students had heavily relied on the Sierra Leone Grant-in-Aid, a government scholarship that used to cater to the tuition, including extra charges for deserving students to acquire higher education.

However, in 2021, the Sierra Leone Student Loan Scheme Act was enacted, replacing the SL-G, and is designed to offer loans to students from undergraduate to postgraduate levels, phasing out a scholarship that thousands depended on.

Today, the Truth Education Platform will look into the Scheme's progress amidst mixed feelings about its implementation and students' uncertainty about meeting its criteria.
