06/05/2025
As GE2025 comes to a close, I would also like to have a closing statement for all those whom followed my journey (albeit a short one).
I want to thank Desmond Lim for giving me the opportunity to join SDA. I would also like to thank ALL the residents who voted for SDA (I know its not because of me). And I would like to thank all my followers (if any) for the words of encouragement. I would also like to thank my wife, especially, for the sacrifices and for enduring the livestreaming every night.
SDA result was expected. I will not say I pulled it up, nor will I say I pulled it down. Let's just say my presence was net zero.
Personally, I am disappointed with myself. My 0 impact was also expected due to some factors (which I prefer not to say). Also, I'm aware that I'm not as talented as Jeremy Tan, in terms of speaking and research, but I believe I'm more of a strategist than him. There were somethings I knew he could tweak to "steal" Mountbatten. Anyway, talk is cheap, so won't be saying so much.
It was never about the fame or glory, but a personal mission to do better for Singapore. If you asked if I would do again, maybe, maybe not. Then again, the stars have to align before I will make my next move.
Most Valuable Party (MVP) will continue, and Candidates, Volunteers and Members applications are always opened. Just drop a WhatsApp at 9884 9091
Till then, I'll see you when I see you.
Yours Truly
Chia Yun Kai
Leader of Most Valuable Party (MVP)
Some other thoughts/reflections/lessons learned from this GE2025.
Expected:
1. WP to do poorly in the sense that they could only "hold" their seats and not win any.
2. For SDP to not win
3. Excellent showing by both Independent Candidates Darryl and Jeremy. Never felt their deposits are at risk (after seeing them speak). Jeremy had a serious chance, but Darryl not really.
4. SDA performed as per expected.
5. Mosquito parties (not SDA) to perform badly.
6. Loss of deposit by most mosquitoes
Unexpected:
1. For PAP to get such a strong mandate (Hindsight Reasoning: Because of their amazing strategy and fearmongering tactics, and partly because oppositions are weak)
2. For PSP to get such a weak mandate (Hindsight Reasoning: Because Singaporeans expected quality > quantity)
Things I've Learned:
1. Jon from Daily Ketchup is a really nice and cool guy, opening up and offering opportunity to almost anyone and everyone.
2. YLB don't give a F for smaller parties. Lol.
3. Experience can be a double-edged sword in politics. If you don't change, please don't expect different results.
4. You can't do it alone 😂
