Had a lovely time visiting residents at Blk 34 Jalan Bahagia and catching up with so many friendly faces along the way.

One resident was so excited to introduce me to her daughter that she video called her all the way in India, where she is currently pursuing her Master’s degree. No lie, that was probably one of the longest distance introductions I’ve had during a house visit! 😄

Two neighbours were also especially surprised and happy to see me because they had just been talking about me earlier that morning. What are the chances? 😂

We also met some of our younger residents who had just returned home from school, making it another evening filled with conversations and stories across generations.

It’s always the people and their stories that make every house visit so special. 🩶

Meet-the-People Sessions are a special part of my week. ❤️

They give my volunteers and me a unique opportunity to sit down with our residents, listen to what’s on your minds, and have meaningful conversations—conversations we hope can make a real difference in your lives.

Many of our volunteers come straight from work, which is why we start at 7 pm. Yet, some residents arrive even earlier to wait for us. I know the queues can sometimes get quite long, and I’m grateful for your patience and understanding. We’ll always do our best to give each resident the time and attention they deserve.

And to our volunteers who show up week after week after a full day at work - thank you for your time, heart and commitment to serving our Whampoa community. 🙏

We had a great set of MPSes in August. See you at our next MPS in September!

🇸🇬 One last wave of National Day celebrations in Whampoa! ❤️🤍
September is here, but the National Day spirit is still going strong in our community!

Lorong Limau and Rajah Court RN came together to organise a National Day Celebration for our neighbours and friends, bringing residents together for an afternoon of fun, performances, conversations and community bonding. 😊

It was heartening to see families, seniors, children, volunteers and neighbours celebrating side by side - a reminder that the kampung spirit remains strong in Whampoa.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the celebration possible, and to all our residents who joined us. A wonderful way to round off this year’s National Day celebrations together. 🇸🇬❤️

Another meaningful National Day celebration, this time with our seniors at TSAO! 🇸🇬❤️

It was lovely spending time with our seniors at TSAO’s Community Development National Day Celebration. There was plenty of laughter, familiar songs and cheerful moments as everyone came together to celebrate.

Our seniors have witnessed and contributed to Singapore’s journey over the years, and celebrations like these are also a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, reminisce and simply enjoy each other’s company.

Thank you to TSAO for organising this celebration and for continuing to create meaningful opportunities for our seniors to stay active and connected with the community.

Here’s to many more happy and healthy moments together! ❤️🇸🇬

Around this time every year, our Primary 6 students head into the final stretch before the PSLE. You are not alone!

For the second year running, our Whampoa volunteers, all experienced facilitators, are spending their Saturday morning with our P6 students. What matters most is we do our best, and that we take care of each other.

It’s orientation day… for our new homeowners in Whampoa-Boon Keng! 🏠 Or is it? 😄

There are no classes or exams here, just a chance to get to know your new home, your new neighbourhood, and most importantly, your new neighbours!

At our MyNiceHome Roadshow, new homeowners came together to learn more about their estate, understand renovation guidelines and what to expect as they prepare to move in, and even hopped on a bus tour to explore the neighbourhood. 🚌

But what I enjoyed most was seeing future neighbours meeting, chatting and getting to know one another. A new home is more than four walls - it’s also the community we build around it. ❤️

To all our new Whampoa-Boon Keng homeowners: welcome home! May this be the start of many happy memories and friendships in the neighbourhood. 😊

Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH) Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital is a strong member of the Whampoa-Boon Keng Community. So I was glad to join the KWSH Charity Golf 2026 for the appreciation dinner. ❤️

The funds raised will go towards providing daily medical care, rehabilitation and subsidised long-term care for vulnerable seniors in our community.

It was heartening to see so many donors, sponsors and partners coming together to support this meaningful cause. Their generosity will help KWSH continue providing much-needed care and support to our seniors and their families.

A big thank you to KWSH and everyone who contributed to making a difference. Together, we can build a stronger and more caring community for our seniors. ❤️

♟️ A delayed post, but a good memory worth sharing! Many parents have asked for activities for our children.

Throwing it back when Kallang CC hosted a Basic Chess Introductory Workshop.

It was wonderful to see participants of different ages gathered around the chessboard—learning the basics, thinking a few moves ahead, and enjoying the game together. 😊

Chess is more than moving pieces on a board. It encourages patience, concentration and strategic thinking, while creating opportunities for people across generations to connect.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the session an enjoyable one. Here’s to more opportunities to learn, play and bond as a community! ♟️❤️

Had the pleasure to join Speaker of Parliament Mr Seah Kian Peng and parliamentary colleagues to host a dialogue with Standing Member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Mr Tran Cam Tu and his team.

Mr Tu was in Singapore for the inaugural Singapore-Vietnam Strategic Dialogue that concluded yesterday. Hope the ties between our countries continue to deepen, between Governments, businesses, and our people!

The days are long, but the years are most certainly short. 👶❤️

Sharing my thoughts with CNA following Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s National Day Rally address. As a father of four, the new Marriage & Parenthood package is deeply personal. And many young families are moving into Jalan Besar as well!

Encouraging more babies requires bold action and not baby steps. Significantly lowering costs for basic infant care and childcare is a major milestone that gives parents genuine peace of mind - six months ago in parliament I had mentioned making basic infant care, childcare, and student care free. Period.

On childcare leave, my immediate reaction was that it would not be straightforward, especially for employers. We must address employer concerns regarding operational coverage so parents feel confident utilising their benefits, and employers don’t think twice about hiring parents with many young children. Culture and policy must change together.

There remains more to be done. Government measures can remove barriers, but the decision to start a family ultimately relies on parents experiencing and sharing the profound sense of purpose when raising children!
