Throwback video on my recent Ministerial community visit to Sengkang.

During the visit, I spoke about Government’s support on cost of living, including $500 in CDC Vouchers for all Singaporean households. These can now be redeemed at 𝐠𝐨.𝐠𝐨𝐯.𝐬𝐠/𝐜𝐝𝐜𝐯 🫶🏻

Celebrated Vesak Day with the Singapore Buddhist Federation, together with members of the Inter-Religious Organisation and friends from other faiths. 🪷

Singapore is one of the most religiously diverse places on earth. In many places, this diversity has hardened into division. Here, it is a source of strength, though never by chance. Our harmony is built and kept through the persistent work of every community and every faith.

That work is never done. Let’s never take it for granted, and keep up the small kindnesses that turn neighbours into one people, one nation.

Centuries before our modern port, Singapore was already a trading hub, and that story is still being written.

Had a great time launching “Voyage Beyond,” a travelling exhibition celebrating Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore - MPA’s 30th anniversary and Maritime Singapore. 🚢🌊

Catch it across multiple locations island-wide. Perfect for the June holidays, so come take an immersive journey through our maritime past, present and future.

Did an interview over lunch with Sumiko Tan of The Straits Times this week.

We met at Amber West, the student-run restaurant at ITE College West. The location was meaningful for me because ITE College West is in my constituency, and I also spent two good years at MOE working on ITE policies. The ITE is our educational marvel – nowhere else in the world is there such a high quality, well-resourced vocational training institution, with programmes that lead to good employment outcomes. Many ITE students are hardworking, enthusiastic and just need opportunities to show what they can do.

One example is Hazeeq, who is in Year 2 of Hospitality Operations and took great care of Sumiko and me during lunch. This was the last table service by Hazeeq and the team of students before their deserved break. Grateful to all the students who stayed back for me. All the best for your exams!

At various times this year, I have spoken about our urgent need to recruit more local bus captains, so that we can add more bus services and improve our bus frequencies.

The median age of local bus drivers is 56, with many due to retire in the coming years. But even just to sustain the current levels of service, we will need to recruit many more new drivers.

This is why from January 2027, we will increase starting salaries and sign-on bonuses to attract more locals to join the profession.

A larger pool of bus captains will also allow us to improve working conditions, including shift arrangements, and make bus driving a more sustainable career.

As we work to expand and improve bus services, we must also support the people who keep them running. This reflects our commitment to take care of our public transport workers, so they can continue serving our commuters well.

A throwback to earlier this year - I tried to keep up with Baey Yam Keng 马炎庆 and fellow cyclists on the Discovering Singapore Ride through Pasir Panjang, ending with stunning views at the PSA public viewing deck.

This June holidays, get outdoors 🚴 and enjoy our cycling paths, park connectors, and green spaces!
