More than $5.4 million has been lost to Government Officials Impersonation Scams (GOIS) since April 2026. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Scammers, impersonating Government officials, have been accusing victims of being involved in criminal activities.

They have asked victims to make cash transfers via ATMs to โ€˜safety accountsโ€™ for investigation purposes.

Remember!

โ€ผ๏ธ Government officials, including the Police, will NEVER ask you to transfer money or hand over valuables (e.g. cash, gold, cryptocurrency) over a phone call.

A Traffic Police officer shared how every phone call brought dread, knowing it meant someone had died and another family would be grieving. He recalled fatal accidents where lives were cut short in an instant, including a case where a speeding driver killed a young couple, leaving their loved ones struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.

The hardest moments come after the crash. Telling families that their son, daughter or partner will never return home is something that stays with the officer. He described how a victim had just said goodbye to his family hours earlier, yet never made it back, leaving relatives at a loss over how to break the news to others.

Even after the scene is cleared, the pain lingers. The officer shared that he sometimes cries alone, carrying the weight of the loss these families endure. These are not just statistics, but someoneโ€™s loved one, gone in an instant.
