Durian flowers are in full bloom on Pulau Ubin 🌼

Instead of the strong smell we associate with the fruit, the flowers carry a light, sweet fragrance that drifts through the air as you cycle or walk along the island paths. It’s a small, lovely surprise for many visitors.

Along some trails you may notice the fallen flowers scattered across the ground like a soft carpet. They look beautiful, but do take care when walking or cycling as they can become a little slippery after some time.

It’s a really lovely season to visit the island, with many other plants blooming and nature looking especially vibrant. Slow down, take a ride, and enjoy the quiet charm of Ubin. 🌿

A beautiful memory shared by MOS Mr Alvin Tan 陈圣辉 — 11 years ago, my dad lent a hand to his young child during a family trip to the island. We’re heartened to know that this small gesture was remembered so fondly. It’s a reminder that even brief, everyday moments of kindness can leave a lasting impression.

Mr Lim Chye Hee runs a bicycle rental shop on Pulau Ubin. 11 years ago, I rented a bike from him and he helped get my toddler set up on my bike.

Over the years when I’ve visited Ubin, I’ve trusted him to set up bike seats for me and my kids.

Mr Lim is now 69, and we caught up at Ubin yesterday. He also shared suggestions on how to make Ubin better, including on drainage improvements.

I will follow up on these and look at other areas to make Ubin more accessible and welcoming as Chairman of our Friends of Ubin network, alongside my NParks colleagues. And we will preserve Ubin’s rich environmental and cultural heritage together!

We thought to let you know that we are open during Chinese New Year. If you’re short of places to go, come rent a bicycle from us at 25 Bicycle Rental to tour Pulau Ubin.

Besides mountain bicycle and city bicycle we also offer bicycle with child seat, tandem bicycle and various sizes for kids.

Provision shop, drink and ice kachang stores are open. Most Chinese operated seafood restaurants are closed. There are limited food options still available, including our Melah Cafe which is located near the jetty. Best you pack some of your own if you’ve special dietary requirements.
