At just 20, Johnson is helping to reimagine a family business that has been around since the 1970s. šŸŒ±šŸŸ

Working alongside his parents at Nippon Koi Farm, Johnson is bringing what he learnt in Applied AI and Analytics into the world of aquaponics. From smart water monitoring to nutrient extraction, heā€™s helping the farm continuously improve its closed-loop system, which now recycles nearly 98% of its water and nutrients.

Here, fish waste feeds the crops, plants help filter the water, and almost nothing goes to waste. ā™»ļø

The farmā€™s innovative approach has also earned recognition beyond Singapore. In 2023, its Nippon SG Aquaponic system was named ā€œBest New Vertical Farm Facilityā€ at the Zenith Global World Vertical Farming Competition, alongside entries from around the world.

For Johnson, itā€™s about more than keeping a family business going. Itā€™s about taking what heā€™s learnt in the classroom and using it to explore what farming could look like for the next generation. šŸŒ±

Once a seaside promenade along Katong, Marine Parade was home to fishermen, kelongs and beachgoers.

Today, you can still find plenty of reminders of its past. A 1925 bakery retains its iconic crimson facade, while laksa stalls that have been part of Katong for decades continue to draw crowds. At the same time, heritage shophouses have taken on new lives, with independent bookstores and other boutiques bringing something new to the neighbourhood.

Itā€™s a mix of the familiar and the new, all within the same streets of Marine Parade.

Every dish has a story to tell.

At JIAK99, Lena Lee celebrates Singaporeā€™s hawker culture by sharing the stories and traditions behind the food we grew up with. The idea was inspired by the meals she shared with her late husband Jeremy and her hope to help others discover where our food comes from and what it means to us.

From familiar hawker favourites to the traditions passed down through generations, Singaporeā€™s food heritage reflects the many cultures and communities that have come together to shape what we eat today.

Through JIAK99, Lena hopes to keep these stories alive and help the next generation understand the people and traditions behind the dishes on our tables.

Joan lives with aniridia, a congenital condition that causes partial vision loss and extreme sensitivity to light. She experiences the world differently. In goalball, she found her home, becoming one of TeamSG's most experienced players and captaining her team to a silver medal at the 2022 ASEAN Para Games.

When the team disbanded, she faced a choice: stop competing altogether, or start over. A memory of trying judo in 2018 stayed with her, so she took the leap into para judo.

Years of technique in one sport, and she was back at the beginning in another. Joan had to rebuild from scratch and earn her place all over again. Today, she's Singapore's first and only national para judoka. And she's nowhere near done, with hopes of representing us on the biggest stages ahead.

Nicholas knew there was one thing his mum loved most: talking to people. So when he wanted to keep her mind active, he started Kopi Khoo, a family business where Aunty Pauline could do what comes naturally to her. Every cup of coffee became another opportunity to strike up a conversation, share a laugh and make someone feel welcome.

What began as a son's way of caring for his mum has since become a place where neighbours gather, friendships are formed, and everyone leaves with a little more than just a cup of coffee.

What does it truly mean to love your neighbour? For Shian Bang, it's as simple as showing up with a pot of soup.

By day, he's a photojournalist. But when the sun goes down, you'll find him under the void deck, serving warm bowls of soup to friends, neighbours and even strangers who have travelled from across Singapore just to share a meal together. Having trained at culinary school and worked in professional kitchens, cooking has always been his passion. Today, he uses that passion not to run a restaurant, but to create a space where people can slow down, share a conversation and feel a sense of belonging.

In a world where everyone seems to be rushing somewhere, his simple act of generosity reminds us that community isn't built through grand gestures. Sometimes, it begins with a warm bowl of soup, an open seat at the table and the kindness to welcome others. That's what makes this home.

Every National Day, familiar rituals quietly return. šŸ‡øšŸ‡¬

The decorations come out, the red outfits make their appearance, and families gather around the TV for the Parade. As evening falls, many of us head out or make a beeline for the best window in the house to catch the fireworks.

These little traditions may look different in every home, but together, they're part of what makes National Day feel so uniquely Singaporean.

At 80 years old, Mr Singh is still showing up for everyone and making it his mission to ensure no community is left out of the National Day celebrations. That's the Singapore spirit right there!

As a deaf illustrator and photographer, Kenneth Chin has spent years proving that passion speaks louder than limitations.

He's built a career illustrating for science publications, earned recognition as an award-winning photographer, and even turned his unique perspective into artwork and merchandise that celebrates the overlooked details of nature.

Where many of us simply pass by, Kenneth stops. He observes. He creates. His work reminds us that seeing the world differently isn't a disadvantage. It's what makes his work so distinctive.

What better way to hear people come together than through instruments you'd never expect to share a stage together?

Since 2018, Open Score Project has brought instruments from across the globe together : the Chinese P**a and Erhu, the Arabic Oud, the Indian Veena, alongside other cultural instruments, each carrying its own history and its own way of being played. But instead of shunning away from those differences, the ensemble welcomes them to create one unified sound.

Musicians from vastly different cultural backgrounds spend hours in rehearsal, slowly turning something unfamiliar into music they can play as one.

The result isnā€™t just music - it's proof of what's possible when different worlds find a common rhythm.
