Assalamualaikum wr. wb.

Alhamdulillah, while in Makkah, I had the pleasure of meeting our four Singapore representatives who took part in the 46th King Abdulaziz International Quranic Memorisation Competition.

Our representatives were among the finalists of the 2025 Musabaqah Tilawah, Tahfiz and Tadabbur Al-Quran (MTTTQ) in Singapore. Through an invitation from the Saudi organisers and with the support of the Office of the M***i, it was heartening to see them take the next step in their Quranic journey on the international stage, alongside more than 300 participants from over 130 countries.

Listening to them share their experiences, I was touched by the sincerity, discipline and determination that brought them to this point. Behind every verse they have committed to memory are years of perseverance, countless hours of revision and the unwavering support of their families, teachers and mentors.

It is only natural to hope to win when we enter a competition. But what matters just as much is the excellence we bring to our effort, how sincerely we prepare, how much we learn and how we grow through the experience. Whatever the outcome, reaching this stage and representing Singapore among Quran memorisers from around the world is already something they can be proud of.

I hope their journey inspires more young people in Singapore to deepen their connection with the Quran, not only through memorisation, but also through understanding, reflection and living by its teachings.

May Allah s.w.t. accept their efforts, bless the knowledge and experiences they have gained and continue to guide them in their journey with the Quran.

Assalamualaikum wr. wb.

Leadership renewal is an important part of ensuring MUIS continues to serve the evolving needs of our Muslim community.

As MUIS embarks on a new chapter, we are pleased to announce two appointments: Deputy Chief Executive Ms Faizah Ahmad Barazy, who joined us on 1 August 2026, and Ms Rafidah Suparman, as Assistant Chief Executive on 1 October 2026.

At the same time, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Mr Khairul Anwar, who served as Deputy Chief Executive from 1 February 2023 to 10 May 2026. During his three years at MUIS, he led the refresh of our Community Religious Life strategy, oversaw key madrasah initiatives, established the Community Endowment Fund, championed talent development across MUIS, and strengthened our organisational capabilities. These are contributions that have meaningfully shaped the community we serve today. We thank you, and wish you every success in your next posting.

I am confident that with fresh perspectives and a shared commitment to our community, we will continue to serve you with excellence, professionalism and compassion.

May Allah s.w.t. grant us wisdom, strength and barakah in our continued service to this community.

Assalamualaikum wr. wb.

Alhamdulillah. Today at the Wakaf Disbursement Ceremony 2026, we announced $8.48 million in disbursements from MUIS-administered wakaf. But what moved me most today was not the number. Rather, it was the stories behind it.

Behind every dollar is a wakif who gave sincerely, trusting that Allah would make it count. Many of those who benefit will never meet the person who gave. Yet they continue to receive from that generosity. That, to me, is the extraordinary beauty of wakaf.

We were also honoured to recognise Mdm Mahiran Abdul Rahman today. Her decision to establish Wakaf Hajjah Maimunah Binte Abdul Karim is a reminder that wakaf is still very much alive and that one act of giving can ripple across generations.

To our wakif, beneficiaries, community partners and everyone who carries this amanah — thank you. Today is made possible by Allah's grace and your dedication.

May Allah s.w.t. accept the deeds of all our wakif, reward them abundantly and guide us all in fulfilling this amanah with wisdom, integrity and compassion.

Assalamualaikum wr. wb.

What a wonderful start to LearnIslam Fest 2026 at Singapore Expo!

Walking through the halls and visiting the booths today, I was truly heartened to see 23 partners from mosques, madrasahs, and Islamic Education Centres and Providers (IECPs) come together under one roof, all driven by a shared purpose of serving our community.

It is a reminder that when we come together, we are better placed to ensure that no one is left behind — and that every Muslim, at every stage of life, has a pathway to Islamic learning that works for them.

Seeing the energy and enthusiasm from our community today gives me great confidence that the seeds we are planting together will continue to grow. 💚

There’s still time to join us for Day 2 of LearnIslam Fest! Head down to Singapore Expo Hall 4A tomorrow to explore our booths, discover learning opportunities and don't miss the ADIL Knowledge Retreat featuring Dr Tamara Gray, alongside many other enriching programmes and activities throughout the day!

Wherever you are in life, you deserve access to meaningful Islamic learning.✨

Earlier today at LearnIslam Fest 2026, MUIS Chief Executive Mr Kadir Maideen presented letters of reappointment to members of the Islamic Education Workgroup (IEWG). The reappointment comes alongside MUIS's ongoing study on part-time Islamic education, with early findings showing that the desire to learn Islam remains strong across all life stages.

Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs, Assoc Prof Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim shared, "MUIS's study reflects our commitment to nurture a Muslim community that is able to practise the faith confidently. This includes ensuring the Muslim community continues to have strong religious guidance through asatizah development and strengthening our religious institutions. I look forward to working closely with MUIS, the Islamic Education Workgroup, the asatizah community and our religious institutions to translate these findings into meaningful and lasting improvements for the community."

Assalamualaikum wr. wb.

As part of our continued efforts to strengthen leadership renewal within the Joint Madrasah System (JMS), MUIS has announced new leadership appointments at Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah and Madrasah Al-Arabiah Al-Islamiah.

Alhamdulillah, Ustaz Dr Afif Pasuni and Mr Abdul Ghani Mohammad Isa have been appointed as Principals (Designate) of Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah and Madrasah Al-Arabiah Al-Islamiah respectively, effective 1 July 2026.

Mr Abdul Ghani's appointment comes ahead of Ms Aisha Abdul Manaf's retirement, following her distinguished service at Madrasah Al-Arabiah Al-Islamiah. At Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah, Ustaz Dr Afif Pasuni will succeed Mr Herman Cher Ma'in, who will take on the full role of Superintendent of JMS (Secondary). Both will assume full duties as Principals on 1 January 2027.

As MUIS continues to invest in leadership development across our madrasahs, we are heartened to see this transition take place. We thank Ms Aisha and Mr Herman for their years of dedication, and welcome Ustaz Dr Afif Pasuni and Mr Abdul Ghani Mohammad Isa into their new roles. Both are well-placed to deepen each madrasah's integration with Singapore College of Islamic Studies (SCIS).

I am confident they will continue to strengthen our madrasahs and nurture future generations who will contribute meaningfully to our Muslim community and to Singapore.

May Allah s.w.t. bless and guide them in their new roles.

Our Chief Executive shares a message on the ongoing exhumation process at Choa Chu Kang Muslim Cemetery (Pusara Abadi).

As we carry out this sacred responsibility, rest assured that every step is taken with the utmost respect for those who have passed and compassion for their loved ones.

❗If your loved one is affected by Phase 10 exhumation, register to participate in the relocation process at www.pusara.sg or call 6238 4504 for an appointment.

Families may also apply to include graves outside the affected blocks as supplementary graves if they meet the criteria, so that loved ones can be reinterred together.

May Allah grant peace and comfort to all families involved, in sya Allah.

Assalamualaikum wr. wb.

This Ramadan, I witnessed the strength of our community — in every act of service, every shared moment, and every gesture of compassion.

I am deeply grateful for the dedication of my colleagues in MUIS and the mosque sector, and the generosity of our community who came together to uplift and support one another.

May the spirit of Ramadan continue to guide us as we step into Syawal.

Wishing each and every one of you, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin.

Assalamualaikum wr. wb.

I spent a meaningful Ramadan evening at Masjid Al-Abdul Razak, a small mosque in the Eunos neighbourhood that has been serving the community since 1965. It was a pleasure meeting the mosque staff, volunteers and congregants, and joining them for Tarawih.

The mosque’s volunteers demonstrated how they embody akhlak (moral character) in serving the jemaah. From carefully preparing food to making sure everything is ready for congregants who come to break their fast and perform their prayers, it is heartening to see their dedication in supporting the community.

Moments like these remind me of how Ramadan brings out the best in our communities. Behind every gathering in our mosques are individuals who give their time, energy and care so that others can worship with ease and focus.

May Allah bless these sincere efforts and reward all who continue to serve our jemaah with such generosity.
