What happens to a product after the hackathon ends? During Hack for Public Good, our teams build solutions to problems they care about. Some grow into tools used across Singapore, most don't - but that doesn't mean the work wasn't worthwhile.

When a product enters Limited Release, it stays available to users but is no longer in active development, so we can focus on the work that creates the most impact.

Follow along as we share more of our Limited Release products over the coming weeks šŸ‘€

A few weeks ago at the Seniors’ Festival, our ScamShield and Gov.sg teams met seniors to share tips on spotting scams and verifying government messages.

It was encouraging to see them asking questions, trying out our tools, and discovering that staying safe online can be simpler than they think.

At Open Government Products, we believe in being close to our users, listening to their concerns, and ensuring no one is left behind as technology evolves.

What actually happens after you report a number on ScamShield? šŸ‘€

ScamShield's latest update now sends you a push notification the moment a number you flagged is verified as a scam. That number then gets added to our blocklist, protecting every ScamShield user in Singapore.

This feature was built on feedback from users like you and it's part of our ongoing commitment to keeping Singapore safe from scams.

šŸ”” Download the ScamShield app and turn on your push notifications.

What does it look like when a community organises its own hackathon?

GoodHub SEA, one of our community partners, brought together a group of builders for a hackathon focused on creating solutions for caregivers and seniors.

This is what Stewards for Good is about — citizens taking ownership, rallying the right people, and building with purpose.

Chances are, you’ve used a government website that Shazli helped make possible 🌐

Meet Shazli, Senior Product Operations Specialist at OGP. While our designers and engineers build the products, Shazli and his team make sure those products actually succeed once they’re out in the world. This could look like onboarding agencies, supporting users, and translating real needs back to the product team.

Over the past 4 years, the Build for Good Hackathon has brought together 329 builders to prototype 74 ideas servingĀ the public good.

But beyond the numbers, the most meaningful outcome isĀ the community that continues to show up and stay engaged.

We recently hosted our first BFG Alumni Mixer, welcoming 39 past builders back into one room to reconnect, exchange ideas, and explore what’s next.

Building tech for public good is one part of what we do at OGP, but showing how we’re actually doing matters just as much. šŸ“Š

Every product we build comes with a report card that we update quarterly. It covers the team behind it, the costs, and how it’s being used by Singaporeans. Through these reports, we aim to stay transparent about our progress.

We set up a mic in our office and asked a simple question: Why did you choose public service?

From personal experiences to what motivates them, our officers shared why they do this work and what it means to them. Behind every product we build is someone who deeply cares about the people we serve.

At OGP, across roles and backgrounds, one thing is clear: a shared commitment to service and to get it right for the public.

Meet Shanty, a content designer at OGP šŸ§‘šŸ»ā€šŸ’»

He shapes the words across our government tech products so everything just makes sense - from button labels to landing page copy. He’s thoughtful about every word, so users (like you) know exactly what to do.
Shanty loves simplifying complex topics and that’s what makes him great at what he does.

What happens after a social worker’s session ends?

For Harry, it used to mean 1-2 hours of case documentation, on top of managing 20 cases.
With Scribe, OGP’s transcription and summarisation tool, he gets that time back. What used to take hours now takes half as long, leaving more room for what actually matters: being present for the people he works with.

Learn more about Scribe in our report card. Link in bio šŸ’
