It was a pleasure to host State Secretary Dag Hartelius yesterday at the Estonian residence for a meeting with the Ambassadors of the NB8 countries, Poland and Germany.

The discussion provided a valuable opportunity to exchange views on regional cooperation, European security and our shared priorities. Close coordination and strong partnerships remain essential in addressing the challenges facing our region and Europe.

Thank you to State Secretary Hartelius and all participating Ambassadors for the constructive and engaging discussion.

Estonian Foreign Minister gave an interview to Sveriges Radio about the security reality Europe faces.

Russia’s sabotage and provocations are not simply “hybrid threats”. This is state-sponsored terrorism, aimed at intimidating and dividing our societies.

We need to call it what it is and act accordingly.

🇪🇪 PISA2025 confirms - StrongEST education in Europe!
• Estonian students continue to demonstrate knowledge and skills that rank among the best in Europe and the world.
• Estonia ranks first in Europe in science and mathematics, and second in reading. Globally, Estonia ranks sixth in science, behind B-S-J-Z (China), Singapore, Macao (China), Chinese Taipei and Japan.
• In mathematics, Estonia ranks behind B-S-J-Z (China), Singapore, Macao (China), Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong (China).
• In reading, Estonia ranks eighth, behind Singapore, B-S-J-Z (China), Chinese Taipei, Japan, Macao (China), Korea and Ireland.
• The strengths of Estonia’s education system include strong learning outcomes, relatively equitable educational opportunities, and students’ belief that they can develop their abilities. Students also report high levels of life satisfaction.
• At the same time, the results show a continued decline in reading performance. The school environment, digital distraction and teacher shortages also require greater attention.

Estonia's parliament elected today Chancellor of Justice Ülle Madise as the country's next president.

After the results were read out, Madise told the MPs present: "I will do my best to be worthy of this trust. I hope that through mutual understanding, debating vigorously when necessary while still supporting one another, we can accomplish a great deal together for Estonia, so that life in Estonia is happy, good and safe."

Madise will become Estonia's seventh president. She will be sworn into office on October 12.

Uus õppeaasta algab uue hooga ning Ülemaailmse Eesti Noortevõrgustik avab oma sügisese noordelegaadi programmi!
Kandideeri ÜENV noordelegaadiks hiljemalt 03.09.2026 ning teeme koos üleilmsete eesti noorte hääled kuuldavaks!

ÜENV noordelegaadi rolli eesmärk on esindada väliseesti noorte vaatenurki ja huvisid oma elukohariigis ning toetada noorte omavahelist suhtlust üle maailma. Otsime aktiivseid noori vanuses 16 - 35, kes on valmis panustama umbes viis tundi kuus vahemikus september-jaanuar, et aidata tugevdada sidet kohalike ja üleilmsete eesti noorte vahel.

Noordelegaadi ülesandeks on luua ja hoida sotsiaalseid kontakte noorte vahel ning toimida kommunikatsioonipunktina väliseesti noorte ja Eesti ühiskonna vahel.

Noordelegaadi roll hõlmab kolme põhisuunda:
1. Sotsiaalmeedia või kirjaliku meedia kommunikatsioon - info ja enda tegemiste jagamine ning noorteni jõudmine kanalites, kus nad igapäevaselt tegutsevad.
2. Oma kogukonna hääle esindamine - kohalike noorte vajaduste, tegevuste ja algatuste nähtavaks muutmine.
3. Ühenduspunkti loomine noorte vahel - kontaktide, võimaluste ja koostöö edendamine eri kogukondade noorte vahel.

Hello all!

The new academic year begins with exciting news: The Estonian Worldwide Youth Network opens its autumn youth delegate programme!

Apply to become a ÜENV youth delegate no later than 03.09.2026 and let's make the voices of Estonian youth around the world heard together!

The purpose of the youth delegate role is to represent the perspectives and interests of Estonian youth abroad in their country of residence and to support communication between young people around the world. We are looking for active young people aged 16 - 35 who are ready to contribute approximately five hours per month between September and January to help strengthen the connection between local and global Estonian youth.

The task of the youth delegate is to create and maintain social contacts between young people and act as a communication point between Estonian youth abroad and local Estonian society.
The role of the Youth Delegate includes three main areas:
Social media or written media communication - sharing information and your own activities and reaching young people in the channels where they operate on a daily basis.
Representing the voice of your community - making the needs, activities and initiatives of local youth visible.
Creating a connection point between young people - promoting contacts, opportunities and cooperation between young people from different communities.

There will be two programmes to choose from:
Estonian-based programme (meetings are lined with EU / US timezones) and English-based programme (meetings are better suited for AUS/NZ timezones). The delegates will be in a shared WhatsApp group and have monthly meetings.
