We were pleased to host Torbjörn Sohlström, Director General for Political Affairs at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, at the Estonian Residence yesterday.

Our discussion underscored the growing importance of the NB8 countries working together with Germany and Poland to help shape Europe’s future. At a time of profound geopolitical change, our region is demonstrating leadership, strengthening security, advancing competitiveness and defending the values that unite us.

Closer cooperation among us will be essential for building a stronger and more resilient Europe.

Yesterday, we welcomed Tove Lifvendahl, Political Editor-in-Chief of Svenska Dagbladet, to the Estonian Residence, together with representatives of the Nordic-Baltic countries, Germany and Poland.

The gathering provided an excellent opportunity for a thoughtful exchange of views on current developments in Sweden, as well as broader regional and international issues.

🇪🇪 Tänasel Eesti lipu päeval oli meil rõõm tervitada saatkonnas Estniska Skolan i Stockholm 9. klassi õpilasi.

Sellest kohtumisest on kujunenud tore traditsioon, mida ei suutnud katkestada isegi saatkonna remont ja meie ajutine paiknemine asenduspinnal. Rääkisime saatkonna tööst ja diplomaadi ametist ning vastasime õpilaste küsimustele.

Loomulikult ei puudunud ka Eesti-teemaline viktoriin. Võitja kuulutame välja kooli lõpuaktusel ning peaauhinnaks on Tallinki poolt välja pandud merereis Eestisse.

Aitäh õpilastele ja õpetajatele toreda kohtumise eest ning edu lõpetajatele! 📚

In an interview with Aftonbladet, Jonatan Vseviov, Secretary General of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs / Välisministeerium, argued that Russia is becoming increasingly desperate:

▪️ Losing around 1,000 soldiers a day
▪️ Struggling economically
▪️ Escalating attacks on civilians to project strength

Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to hit military targets deep inside Russia, undermining one of Russia's key advantages, its strategic depth.

Russia wants the West to believe it is unstoppable. The facts suggest otherwise.

Yesterday, the Secretary General of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs / Välisministeerium Jonatan Vseviov visited Stockholm.

As Secretary General Vseviov noted at the conclusion of his visit: “The challenges are many. Our understanding of them remains fully aligned. My short takeaway: Sweden can be counted on.”

During his visit, he met with Secretary General of the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs Dag Hartelius, Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces General Michael Claesson, National Security Adviser Niclas Kvarnström and Director of the Swedish Institute of International Affairs Jakob Hallgren.

The meetings focused on the security situation in the Baltic Sea region, continued support for Ukraine and strengthening defence and security cooperation between Estonia and Sweden. Discussions also highlighted the importance of close Nordic-Baltic cooperation, strong transatlantic ties and joint efforts to counter hybrid threats and safeguard regional security.
