**ممثل منظمة الصحة العالمية يشيد بجهود التعافي والتحول اللامركزي بالمعمل القومي للصحة العامة (استاك)**

استقبل المعمل القومي للصحة العامة "استاك" السيد ممثل منظمة الصحة العالمية بمكتب السودان والوفد المرافق له في زيارة تفقدية رسمية؛ للوقوف على حجم الأضرار ومتابعة خطوات إعادة الإعمار وتشغيل الأقسام الحيوية.

وكان في استقبال الوفد المدير العام للمعمل القومي، ورؤساء الأقسام والكوادر العاملة، ومدير الإدارة العامة لبنوك الدم القومية.

**أبرز ما جاء في الزيارة:**

* **جولة ميدانية:** تفقد المعامل الجوالة والاستجابة السريعة للأوبئة، وأقسام الفيروسات الوبائية، الأغذية والمياه، المعامل الكيماوية القومية، وقسم الحشرات الطبية، للاطلاع على جاهزية الفحوصات وخطط التوسع بالولايات.
* **إعادة التأهيل:** أعرب ممثل المنظمة عن أسفه لما تعرض له المعمل من أضرار بالغة في البنية التحتية، مؤكداً التزام WHO بدعم جهود التعافي.
* **إنجاز قياسي:** تم استعراض نجاح تأهيل معمل الصحة العامة بولاية البحر الأحمر خلال 3 أشهر فقط بدعم مباشر من المنظمة، مما عزز الاستجابة الفعالة للأوبئة وتدريب الكوادر الوطنية.
* **التزام مستمر:** تأكيد استمرار الدعم الفني واللوجستي لاستعادة دور "استاك" كمركز قومي رائد في خدمة القطاع الصحي بالسودان.



**WHO Representative Commends Recovery Efforts and Decentralization at Stack National Public Health Laboratory** 🏥🇸🇩

The Stack National Public Health Laboratory recently welcomed the WHO Representative to Sudan and his delegation on an official field visit to assess infrastructural damage, track rehabilitation progress, and review the operational status of vital departments.

The delegation was received by the Director-General of the National Public Health Laboratory, heads of departments, dedicated staff, and the Director of the General Administration of National Blood Banks.

**Key Highlights of the Visit:**

* **Field Inspection:** Tour of mobile laboratories supporting rapid outbreak response, alongside visits to the Epidemic Viruses, Food & Water, National Chemical Laboratories, and Medical Entomology departments to evaluate diagnostic readiness and regional expansion plans.
* **Rehabilitation Commitment:** The WHO Representative expressed regret over the extensive structural and equipment damage, reiterating WHO’s unwavering commitment to supporting recovery and restoration.
* **Milestone Achievement:** Review of the successful rehabilitation of the Red Sea State Public Health Laboratory within a record 3-month timeframe, significantly strengthening epidemic response and local workforce training.
* **Future Support:** Reaffirmation of continued technical and logistical backing to restore "Stack" to its vital position as Sudan's leading national health hub.

المعامل الجوالة التابعة للمعمل القومي للصحة العامة استاك

تستجيب للأوبئة. هذا هو التدخل الرابع

24 September 2025, in response to the hashtag outbreak in hashtag , Ministry of Health in collaboration with World Health Organization, deployed mobile public health laboratories (MPHLs) with the following objectives:

1. To identify the predominant circulating dengue serotypes across the seven localities of Khartoum State and evaluate their temporal and spatial trends.

2. To conduct phylogenetic mapping of dengue virus strains in Khartoum and compare them with global genomic data.

3. To enhance in-country outbreak response capabilities.

This initiative is essential for gaining insights into the nature of the outbreak, providing critical information, and preparing for effective response efforts.

Thanks to our partner European Union , the World Health Organization is fully supporting this initiative by providing vehicles, equipment, reagents, consumables, and operational costs associated with this deployment, recognizing the vital role of MPHLs in the early detection of outbreak-prone diseases.

ختام ورشة السلامة والأمن الحيوي
التي نفذها معمل الصحة العامة القومي ( استاك )بولاية البحر الأحمر بمشاركة 21 كادر من الولايات والاقاليم المختلفة

اختتمت ورشة السلامة والأمن الحيوي التي نُفذها معمل الصحة العامة القومي (استاك) بالتعاون مع منظمة الصحة العالمية و البنك الدولي خلال الفترة من 24 الي 28 اغسطس 2025 م بغرفة التوكيلات البحرية ببورتسودان التي استهدفت 21 مشارك منهم 14 حضورا و7 اسفيريا يمثلون معامل الصحة العامة بعدد من الولايات
وعبرت مدير عام معمل الصحة العامة القومي د٠شاهيناز احمد بدرى عن شكرها لدعم.جهود معمل استاك والاشادة لكل من ساهم في إنجاح الورشة التي تمثل خطوة في تعزيز السلامة والأمن الحيوي تحديثا وتطويرا لنهضة موجهات عمل المعامل بالسودان واشارت بأن الأيام القادمة سوف تشهد المعامل نقلة متقدمة وتنفيذ عدد من الخطط والشروع في تنفيذ ورشة الجودة لإعادة دور المعمل القومي وتعقبها أعمال متقدمة وثمنت دور معمل الصحة العامة بولاية البحر الاحمر والمساهمة الفاعلة في النقلة واداء الواجب ٠وذلك بفضل كوادرة التي عملت بتميز فاق التصور واشادت بكل المشاركين حضوريا واسفيريا والأداء الذي تميز بالفعالية والتميز واستعرضت ما تم قبل أثناء الحرب وقالت الورشة فرصة طيبة للمشاركين لها اهميتها عن المخاطر الحيوية السلامة والأمن الحيوي مشيرة بأن المخاطر الحيوية كثيرة يعتبر من أقدم الأقسام بالمعمل متمنية من المشاركين التطبيق في ولاياتهم

وأضاف مدير ادارة شؤون الولايات أهمية د٠شاذلي عبد الله علي ، مؤكداً أن الورشة تمثل خطوة مهمة نحو بناء عمل معملي أكثر سلامة و امن لعمل متقدم في المرحلة القادمة

كما تحدث ممثل المشاركين من الولايات عماد عبدالعزيز اختصاصي المختبرات اقليم النيل الازرق ، اشاد بالورشة، التي كانت خطوة في أضافة معرفة حول وسائل الامن و السلامة داخل المعامل، وساهمت في رفع جودة الخدمات الصحية المقدمة داعيا كل المشاركين عكس ما تم في ولاياتهم

WHO Director-General declares Monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern

WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has determined that the upsurge of mpox in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and a growing number of countries in Africa constitutes a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC) under the International Health Regulations (2005) (IHR).

Dr Tedros’s declaration came on the advice of an IHR Emergency Committee of independent experts who met earlier in the day to review data presented by experts from WHO and affected countries. The Committee informed the Director-General that it considers the upsurge of mpox to be a PHEIC, with potential to spread further across countries in Africa and possibly outside the continent.

The Director-General will share the report of the Committee’s meeting and, based on the advice of the Committee, issue temporary recommendations to countries.

In declaring the PHEIC, Dr Tedros said, "The emergence of a new clade of mpox, its rapid spread in eastern DRC, and the reporting of cases in several neighbouring countries are very worrying. On top of outbreaks of other mpox clades in DRC and other countries in Africa, it’s clear that a coordinated international response is needed to stop these outbreaks and save lives.”

WHO Regional Director for Africa Dr Matshidiso Moeti said, “Significant efforts are already underway in close collaboration with communities and governments, with our country teams working on the frontlines to help reinforce measures to curb mpox. With the growing spread of the virus, we’re scaling up further through coordinated international action to support countries bring the outbreaks to an end.”

Committee Chair Professor Dimie Ogoina said, “The current upsurge of mpox in parts of Africa, along with the spread of a new sexually transmissible strain of the monkeypox virus, is an emergency, not only for Africa, but for the entire globe. Mpox, originating in Africa, was neglected there, and later caused a global outbreak in 2022. It is time to act decisively to prevent history from repeating itself."

This PHEIC determination is the second in two years relating to mpox. Caused by an Orthopoxvirus, mpox was first detected in humans in 1970, in the DRC. The disease is considered endemic to countries in central and west Africa.

In July 2022, the multi-country outbreak of mpox was declared a PHEIC as it spread rapidly via sexual contact across a range of countries where the virus had not been seen before. That PHEIC was declared over in May 2023 after there had been a sustained decline in global cases.

Mpox has been reported in the DRC for more than a decade, and the number of cases reported each year has increased steadily over that period. Last year, reported cases increased significantly, and already the number of cases reported so far this year has exceeded last year’s total, with more than 15 600 cases and 537 deaths.

The emergence last year and rapid spread of a new virus strain in DRC, clade 1b, which appears to be spreading mainly through sexual networks, and its detection in countries neighbouring the DRC is especially concerning, and one of the main reasons for the declaration of the PHEIC.

In the past month, over 100 laboratory-confirmed cases of clade 1b have been reported in four countries neighbouring the DRC that have not reported mpox before: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda. Experts believe the true number of cases to be higher as a large proportion of clinically compatible cases have not been tested.

Several outbreaks of different clades of mpox have occurred in different countries, with different modes of transmission and different levels of risk.

The two vaccines currently in use for mpox are recommended by WHO’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization, and are also approved by WHO-listed national regulatory authorities, as well as by individual countries including Nigeria and the DRC.

Last week, the Director-General triggered the process for Emergency Use Listing for mpox vaccines, which will accelerate vaccine access for lower-income countries which have not yet issued their own national regulatory approval. Emergency Use Listing also enables partners including Gavi and UNICEF to procure vaccines for distribution.

WHO is working with countries and vaccine manufacturers on potential vaccine donations, and coordinating with partners through the interim Medical Countermeasures Network to facilitate equitable access to vaccines, therapeutics, diagnostics and other tools.

WHO anticipates an immediate funding requirement of an initial US$ 15 million to support surveillance, preparedness and response activities. A needs assessment is being undertaken across the three levels of the Organization.

To allow for an immediate scale up, WHO has released US$ 1.45 million from the WHO Contingency Fund for Emergencies and may need to release more in the coming days. The Organization appeals to donors to fund the full extent of needs of the mpox response.

نشكر فريق الاسناد الاتحادي وعلي راسه الخبير دكتور صابر علي محمد والخبير في مجال المعامل واخذ العينات معتصم المنقوري واختصاصي صحة عامة عثمان عمر صالح وكذلك الكوادر الطبية والصحية بالولاية بخبراتهم الطويلة والذي نفذ هذه الورشة المهمة جدا والتي تنبع أهميتها في رفع القدرات لدي الكادر الصحي لذلك درجت ادارة الاستعداد المبكر وبناء المقدرات بالادارة علي قيام الورش التدريبية لفرق الاستجابة السريعة للامراض والاوبئة وان إدارة الاستعداد المبكر وبناء المقدرات بالادارة العامة للطواري بوزارة الصحة الاتحادية بالتنسيق مع الشركاء وخصوصا منظمة الصحة العالمية والمنظمات الاخري لتنظيم التدريب وأهمية الورشة في تدريب فرق الاستجابةالسريعة Rapid Response Team . للتدخل السريع في حالة حدوث اي طاري صحي خصوصا في ظل الاوضاع الصحية الراهنة وان الاستعداد المبكر للاوبئة يعد حجر الزاوية من حيث انه يقلل من نسب الامراضية ويقلل من الوفيات وذلك من الضرورة بمكان للتنسيق التام لكل الأنشطة وضرورة تفعيل غرف الترصد والتقصي والابلاغ وايضا اهمية اختيار الدارسين بعناية فائقة للاستفادة من مخرجات الورشة حتي تتم مكافحة الامراض والاوبئة وياتي اختيار الولاية ان ولاية نهر النيل تعتبر المنفذ الرئيسي الشمالي لولاية الخرطوم مما يتطلب بناء مقدرات الولاية بصورة قوية وتوفير المعينات الضرورية لمجابهه مثل هذه الاوبئة وان الورشة ركزت علي تناول حزم تدريبية متكاملة خاصة فيما يتعلق بالرصد المرضي والتقصي والابلاغ وعلاج الحالات ومكافحة العدوي وقد شمل التدريب نقلة نوعية استثنائية مصحوبة ببعض محاضرات عن وباء السحائ والحميات النزفية وضربات الشمس وداء السعر وإن الورشة استهدفت كل محليات الولاية بنسبة تغطية بلغت 100% من الكوادر الصحية بمحليات الولاية المختلفة نسال الله ان يحفظ البلاد والعباد

WHO scales up response following Sudan declaration of cholera outbreak

Sudan has declared a cholera outbreak in Gedaref State, where 264 suspected cholera cases, 4 confirmed cases and 16 associated deaths had been reported by 25 September 2023. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether cholera has also spread to Khartoum and South Kordofan states, where increased cases of acute watery diarrhoea have been reported.

Dr Nima Abid, WHO Representative in Sudan, visited Gedaref State on 17 September 2023 and met with health authorities and partners to coordinate the response. “Unhindered access to affected and neighbouring localities is essential to respond effectively to the ongoing outbreak,” said Dr Abid. “A cholera outbreak can have a devastating effect in the context of a health system already overstretched because of war, shortages of medical supplies and health workers, malnutrition and access challenges.”

Even before the outbreak was declared, WHO had already provided cholera supplies, including antibiotics, oral rehydration solution and intravenous fluids, to 6 states, including Gedaref, Khartoum and South Kordofan, as well as rapid diagnostic test kits to all 18 states of Sudan. WHO was also supporting 3 cholera isolation centres in Gedaref State – 2 of them with medicines and health supplies, and fully supporting the final centre with the provision of equipment and medical supplies.

Earlier this year, more than 2800 Sudanese health workers took part in an online capacity-building programme conducted by WHO on the management of acute watery diarrhoea in times of crisis. Another online training course, on cholera, dengue and malaria management protocols, took place this week, for more than 8000 Sudanese health workers. On-the-job training on surveillance and standard case management for cholera and other infectious diseases was also conducted in Gedaref for 185 health workers.

Currently, WHO is deploying rapid response teams to the affected localities and is actively supporting the Ministry of Health to transfer samples of suspected cholera cases to the Public Health Laboratory in Port Sudan, a facility capacitated by WHO to provide a national reference service. Surveillance is ongoing in affected and high-risk areas to identify and address risk factors. Plans have been initiated to facilitate a request to the International Coordinating Group on Oral Cholera Vaccine Provision for Cholera Control for oral cholera vaccines to protect the population and contain the outbreak.

With support from WHO and health partners, the Ministry of Health is also coordinating efforts to scale up access to clean water and sanitation facilities, as well as ensuring affected and at-risk communities are aware of transmission risks and proper hygiene practices to reduce contamination risks and prevent further spread of the outbreak.

As a result of the war that erupted in April 2023, Sudan is grappling with unprecedented mass displacement, disease outbreaks and malnutrition, which have been compounded by heavy rains and flooding. The health system is overwhelmed by attacks on health facilities and the scarcity of medical supplies and equipment, health workers and operational funds. About 70% of hospitals in conflict-affected states are non-functional, while the active hospitals and clinics in non-conflict-affected states are overwhelmed by the influx of internally displaced people.

تفعيل معمل الصحة العامة بولاية البحر الاحمر كمعمل صحة عامة لتشخيص الوبائيات و للترصد المعملي للامراض

الخرطوم ٦ يونيو ٢٠٢٣م كشف المعمل القومي للصحة العامة بوزارة الصحة الاتحادية عن خططه الاسعافية لدرء و مكافحة الوبائيات في ظل هذه الأوضاع التي تمر بها البلاد ، جاء ذلك بعد التشاور مع المختصين و الاستشارين بوزارة الصحة الاتحادية ومنظمة الصحة العالمية؛ حيث تم تسمية معمل الصحة العامة بولاية البحر العامة كمعمل صحة عامة لتشخيص الوبائيات و للترصد المعملي للامراض مثل الحصبة و الشلل وحمى الضنك وباشراف مباشر للمعمل القومي للصحة العامة(استاك) والدور المنوط به. كما سيقوم المعمل القومي للصحة العامة (استاك) بتاهيل وتفعيل معمل الصحة العامه ولاية الجزيرة كمعمل صحة عامة إقليمي لمواجهة الطوارئ ومكافحة الأمراض الوبائيه بولاية الجزيرة وكافة ولايات الإقليم الأوسط(ولاية النيل الابيض/ولاية النيل الازرق/ولاية سنار )
هذا بالاضافة لتفعيل الشراكات بكتابة مذكرة تفاهم مع معهد النيل الازرق للأمراض السارية ومعمل الصحة العامة وذلك لتعزيز الخدمات المعملية لمواجهة ومكافحة الأمراض الوبائيه بالاضافة للمساهمة في تأهيل معمل الوبائيات بمعهد النيل الازرق في مجال التشخيص للأمراض الوبائية . الجدير بالذكر ان المعهد يقوم بعمل البحوث والدراسات البحثية وهو الهدف الاساسي للمعهد والدور المنوط به

وأكد الوفد ان الزيارة في إطار برامج الزيارات الإشرافية والفنية والإدارية للوقوف علي جاهزية المعمل لاستقبال أكبر عدد من حالات الاشتباة للحميات النزفية والاسهالات المائية وغيرها من الأوبئة المنشرة بالولاية ٠
