Evenimentul reunește cercetători și personalități de prestigiu internațional care vor reflecta asupra vieții, operei și moștenirii lui 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐥 (𝟏𝟗𝟐𝟖–𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟔), una dintre cele mai importante voci morale ale secolului XX și supraviețuitor al Holocaustului.

Invitați:
Prof. Michael Berenbaum – profesor de studii iudaice, American Jewish University;
Prof. Dina Porat – profesor emerit al departamentului de studii iudaice de la UniversitateaTel Aviv și consilier la Yad Vashem;
Dr. Ana Bărbulescu – cercetătoare în cadrul Institutul National pentru Studierea Holocaustului din Romania Elie Wiesel;
Dr. Yoel Rappel – fondatorul arhivei „Elie Wiesel” din cadrul Universității din Boston.

Discuțiile vor explora dimensiunile esențiale ale moștenirii lui Elie Wiesel: martor al istoriei, scriitor, intelectual public și voce morală a memoriei Holocaustului. Temele abordate includ relația dintre mărturie și scris, responsabilitatea memoriei și rolul educației în păstrarea adevărului istoric.

Evenimentul este organizat în cadrul seriei de conferințe Talking Memory International Lecture Series și marchează zece ani de la dispariția lui Elie Wiesel, continuând reflecția asupra impactului său asupra memoriei Holocaustului și discursului moral contemporan.

On June 21, photographer Hannah Altman will open her newest exhibition "Ground Glass," which honors the life and work of Holocaust victim Lore Sternfeld (1915-1943), a camera lens engineer for Astro-Berlin, whose lenses were also used by N**i propagandists.

Altman imagines Sternfeld’s inner world during the final winter of her life and retraces her path from Berlin to Auschwitz on the 83rd anniversary of her deportation.

The exhibition will be on display at the former home of Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss—now called the Auschwitz Research Center on Hate, Extremism and Radicalization—an initiative by The Counter Extremism Project that focuses on education, research, and art as a means of inspiring intervention over apathy in the face of extreme ideology.

Established in the early 1890s, the vast Jewish cemetery on Kozma utca (st.) in an outlying district of Budapest is the largest Jewish cemetery in Europe, encompassing 70 hectares; more than 300,000 people are buried there, in around 175,000 grave sites, ranging from large and elaborate family mausolea and the ornate tombs of leading personalities, to the simple gravestones of ordinary people and burials and memorials of Holocaust victims.

Before this, Jews were buried in the Vaci or "Old" Jewish cemetery. Opened in 1810, it was closed in 1874. A number of family plots, 63 out of a total of 69, were exhumed and reinterred in the Kozma and other cemeteries in Budapest.

O singură dată împlinim cinci ani :) Săptămâna trecută am fost invitat de jurnalistul Leontin Cupar la canalul OBE TV, unde am discutat mai pe larg despre parcursul asociației.
