Today, Nigeria marks 27 unbroken years of civilian democratic rule, a milestone that belongs not to any government, but to every Nigerian who has ever believed in the promise of this great nation.
June 12 is more than a date on the calendar, it is a covenant sealed in sacrifice by Chief MKO Abiola, Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, and the countless heroes whose courage gave us the democracy we now enjoy. Their struggle was not in vain, thus our responsibility is to ensure it never becomes so.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in his national address today, captured the defining charge of this moment with clarity: the generation of our founding fathers secured independence, the generation of June 12 secured democracy, and our generation must now secure prosperity. That charge resonates deeply with what the Renewed Hope Agenda stands for.
Across Apapa Local Government, we are committed to ensuring that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not just a federal conversation but a lived reality at the grassroots level, in our markets, our streets, our wards, and our homes.
Democracy earns its meaning when citizens feel it in the quality of their daily lives. That is the standard we hold ourselves to, and the work we are committed to doing alongside our communities every day.
To every resident of Apapa, to every Nigerian who has ever cast a ballot in faith and in hope - Happy Democracy Day.
The labours of our heroes past shall never be in vain
Signed
Renewed Hope Team - Apapa
