The Army National Guard depends on strong leaders: its commissioned officers. Rising through the ranks, commissioned officers become managers and problem-solvers. Officer Candidate School (OCS) is an intense leadership training ground. It's physically and mentally challenging, and not everyone's cut out for it. But those who are accepted, and make it through, agree it's one of the most rewarding experiences of their lives. Whether you're a first-time Soldier or have prior military experience, OCS will transform you into an effective leader.

There are three options for attending OCS; State, Federal, and Accelerated. After meeting the requirements, you'll choose the best one for you based on your specific circumstances, such as work, school, or family commitments.

National Guard Soldiers who attend 11B (Infantryman) training, have the opportunity to attend the Ranger Team Leader Initiative (RTLI) program immediately after OSUT (BCT+AIT). RTLI provides Soldiers with advanced instruction on Land Navigation, Ranger Physical Assessment (RPA), Combat Water Survival Training (CWST), Ranger Technical Tasks (RTTs), and all core events needed to pass Ranger School.

Let's welcome and congratulate Spc Montero and PFC Rodriguez on their successful completion of Initial Entry Training (BCT and AIT).

They will now join their Units as fully qualified Soldiers, while simultaneously attending college as full-time students.
