Biebrza National Park was created 09/09/1993, and is the largest national park in Poland. It is located in the north - eastern part of the country, in the region of Podlasie. Park area is 59,223 hectares. Park Forest areas occupy 15,547 hectares agricultural land - 18,182 hectares, a wasteland - the famous Biebrza Marshes, in fact, the most valuable natural ecosystems - 25,494 ha. Biebrza National Park protects a vast and almost unchanged valleys bog with unique diversity of plants, birds and other animals and natural ecosystems. Biebrza Valley is a very important nesting, feeding and resting for wetland birds, so in 1995, was admitted to the convention RAMSAR habitats such as wetlands of international importance, especially as a living environment wetland birds. Profesor Adam Pałczyński zaproponował nazwę Jaćwieskiego Parku Narodowego. Jadźwingowie to rdzenni mieszkańcy ziem, na których teraz znajduje się BbPN.
