World TB Day Observed at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Muzaffargarh
===========================================
World TB Day was observed at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Muzaffargarh with the objective of raising public awareness about tuberculosis (TB), including its causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment.

Addressing patients and visitors at OPD-1, Dr. Aneel Razzaq, Head of the Pulmonology Department, stated that one of the primary causes of TB spread is unknowing contact with infected individuals. He explained that many TB carriers remain unaware of their illness, and through close interaction—such as living, eating together, or coughing without precaution—they unknowingly transmit the disease to others.

He further highlighted that incomplete TB treatment is a critical issue. Patients often discontinue medication once symptoms improve, which can lead to the development of chronic TB and eventually Multi Drug Resistant (MDR) TB, making treatment more difficult.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mubashir Khan, Manager Public Health, informed that ““According to global estimates, thousands of people die from tuberculosis every day worldwide” with a significant number of patients unaware of their condition. He emphasized that free TB testing, diagnosis, and treatment services are available at the hospital, ensuring accessible healthcare for all segments of society. Adding to the discussion,

Dr. Shoaib Shujra, Incharge Family Medicine Clinics, stressed the importance of early detection and adherence to treatment, stating that early screening and timely completion of medication are essential to effectively control and eliminate tuberculosis.
The event witnessed significant public participation, along with an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing patients to engage directly with healthcare professionals.

This initiative reflects the hospital’s commitment not only to providing free healthcare services but also to promoting health education and disease prevention within the community.

==============================
Recep Tayyip Erdogan (Indus) Hospital Muzaffargarh has successfully completed one hundred advanced and high-cost orthopedic and spine surgeries completely free of charge, in collaboration with a visiting medical team GODA from the United States. This major humanitarian initiative reflects the hospital’s continued commitment to providing equitable, high-quality healthcare to underprivileged communities.

Specialist spine and knee surgeons from the US-based medical team GODA worked closely with the hospital’s local orthopedic team to perform complex procedures, including spine surgeries, total knee replacements, hip joint replacement, supportive surgeries, and spine injections. All surgeries were carried out in accordance with internationally recognized medical standards, ensuring patient safety and optimal clinical outcomes.

GODA medical team has been visiting Recep Tayyip Erdogan Indus Hospital Muzaffargarh for the past four consecutive years. The visiting team brings all required high-cost implants and specialized surgical equipment, enabling the hospital to offer life-changing procedures at no cost to patients who otherwise could not afford such treatment. Patients from Muzaffargarh as well as from other parts of the country wait throughout the year to benefit from this rare and impactful opportunity.

While expressing his appreciation for the visiting team, Dr. Irfan Javed, Head of Campus, stated that such humanitarian collaborations are highly commendable and align perfectly with the mission of the Indus Hospital & Health Network. Patients are shortlisted strictly on medical need, and once a year, the visiting team arrives with complete surgical supplies to perform the planned procedures. This collaboration not only transforms the lives of patients but also serves as a valuable learning platform for local doctors, enhancing their clinical and surgical expertise.

Following her successful surgery, she is now able to walk independently again.
