3-Day SMART Advocacy Workshop on Domestic Resource Mobilization successfully completed at Peshawar today. The groups presented their work before the Chief Guest, Secretary PWD KP, Dr. Aneela Durrani and she appreciated the plans. The Chief Guest thanked UNFPA for organising such a wonderful Workshop which will go a long way in building the capacities of the officers of the Health and Population Welfare. Certificates were distributed among the participants.

An introductory meeting was held between the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Population Welfare, Mr. Tufail Anjum, and Secretary Population Welfare, Dr. Aneela Mahfooz Durrani, with representatives of NGOs, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and Social Mobilization Committees (SMCs) working in the field of Family Planning and Reproductive Health (FP/RH).

The meeting provided an important platform for strengthening coordination and collaboration among the Population Welfare Department and its development partners. Discussions focused on ongoing FP/RH initiatives, community-level interventions, service delivery, awareness and advocacy, and the role of partner organizations in supporting the department’s population welfare objectives.

The participants also exchanged views on key challenges, opportunities for improved collaboration, and strategies to enhance access to quality family planning and reproductive health services across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The leadership emphasized the importance of collective efforts, effective coordination, and meaningful community engagement to achieve the desired outcomes in the FP/RH sector.

Secretary Population Welfare Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Aneela Mahfooz Durrani, chaired an online e-Khuli Kachehri today, accompanied by Director General Population Welfare Department, Mr. Abdullah, along with senior officers from the Population Welfare Department. The session provided an opportunity for citizens from across the province to directly interact with the department’s leadership and share their concerns, complaints, suggestions, and queries regarding population welfare services.

During the e-Khuli Kachehri, Dr. Aneela Mahfooz Durrani listened attentively to each participant and ensured that every issue was given due consideration. She issued on-the-spot directions to the relevant officers for the prompt resolution of public grievances and emphasized that all complaints should be addressed on a priority basis with transparency, efficiency, and accountability. She also instructed the concerned officials to maintain close coordination with the complainants and ensure timely follow-up until each matter is resolved.

The Secretary reiterated the Population Welfare Department’s commitment to improving service delivery, strengthening public engagement, and ensuring that citizens have easy access to quality reproductive health and family planning services through a responsive and people-centered approach.

A meeting of the Sub-Committee on Country Engagement Working Group (CEWG) was convened to deliberate on matters related to the strengthening and restructuring of the Country Engagement Working Group. The session focused on reviewing existing coordination mechanisms, identifying key areas for improvement, and discussing strategic measures to enhance collaboration and effectiveness of the working group.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Aneela Mahfooz Durrani, Secretary Population Welfare Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with other relevant stakeholders and members of the sub-committee. During the meeting, participants shared their insights and recommendations aimed at improving institutional coordination and ensuring more effective engagement at the country level.
