KPEF TWO-DAY TRAINING PROGRAMME ON TRANSFORMING LEADERSHIP IN UNIVERSITIES OF KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA COMMENCES
PESHAWAR
A two-day training programme on **“Transforming Leadership in Universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”**, organized by the **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Foundation (KPEF)**, commenced in Peshawar on Tuesday, September 08, 2026.
The inaugural session was attended by a large number of distinguished leaders and stakeholders from the higher education sector. Mr. Muhammad Fakhr Alam, Managing Director KPEF, welcomed the participants, comprising Registrars, Deans, and Chairpersons of Departments from public and private sector universities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abdul Akram, Additional Secretary, Higher Education Department, urged participants to engage meaningfully with the themes and modules of the training programme. He emphasized that **transforming leadership begins with transforming oneself, adding that personal accountability is fundamental to meaningful institutional transformation. He further stated that the recommendations emerging from the workshop would be looked into by the Higher Education Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for possible implementation.
The first day featured thought-provoking and insightful sessions on **University Governance in 2026, emerging administrative challenges in KP universities, and leadership skills for university administrators**. Distinguished keynote speakers, including **Dr. Noor Amna Malik, Managing Director, NAHE-HEC Islamabad; Dr. Zabta Khan Shinwari, Vice Chancellor, Federal Urdu University Islamabad; and Dr. Salim ur Rehman, Vice Chancellor, Sarhad University Peshawar**, engaged participants through expert presentations and interactive learning activities.
The sessions focused on **good governance, institutional autonomy and accountability, strategic decision-making, crisis leadership, conflict resolution, negotiation, communication, team building, and leading change**.
The day concluded with an engaging **Leadership Simulation Activity**, providing participants with an opportunity to translate leadership concepts into practical experience.
The first day marked a significant step towards strengthening leadership capacity, promoting institutional excellence, fostering collaborative learning, and shaping the future of higher education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
