Drying of Meat in a Hybrid Solar Tunnel: Blending Tradition with Modern Technology
The Food Technology Section successfully demonstrated the drying of meat in a Hybrid Solar Tunnel under the supervision of Dr. Shahzada Arshad Saleem Saddozai. Originally developed for drying dates, fruits, and vegetables, the technology has now been successfully applied to meat preservation.
Traditionally, meat strips known as "Lairan" were dried for long-term storage before refrigeration became common. The Hybrid Solar Tunnel provides a hygienic, dust-free, and controlled environment for faster and safer drying.
This trial was conducted with the valuable support of Dr. Atiq Ahmad Alizai, who provided the meat for the experiment.
